Hi all,

anyone interested in making knowledge about the situation FAIR with Wikidata? They already started a page there [0], and it may provide useful data and data links for us to take advantage of during the actual hackathon. Of course, I'd also be looking at this from a Scholia perspective, which can summarize data about the virus, etc.

Egon

Hi, do you like citation networks? Already 51% of all citations are available available for innovative new uses. Join me in asking the American Chemical Society to join the Initiative for Open Citations too. SpringerNature, the RSC and many others already did.

Great idea. Why not add a working group to the wiki?

Will do. I have two leads at this moment:

- a markdown book with SPARQL queries: https://egonw.github.io/SARS-CoV-2-Queries/
- a WikiPathways about how the virus works (which we're trying to get into Wikidata): https://www.wikipathways.org/index.php/Pathway:WP4846

Hi Egon,
As a big wikidata fan I am, of course interested in this. So yes, if we come up with a useful proposal I will try to contribute. Othre projects like "public sequence resource" did mention wikidata already (I will help with ontologies/wikidata there) and I could imagin that some more project will in the future. So I am sure wikidata will be part of this if there is an own wikidata proposal or not! So count me, lets discuss this in the near future!

Cheers.

Hi all,

I'm a postdoc in Andrew Su's group at The Scripps Research Institute who contributes to Wikidata (Github @sabahzero)
Keep me posted, I'm interested.

Me too. Getting these data into Wikidata seems like it would maximize future impact.

(BTW Sabah - great to “see" you again, and a warm welcome to this group! Say hi from me to Andy when you see him, virtually I suppose.)

Hi, this is very interesting, I would love to support, but only have R programming skills, is this a coding heavy project?
If not, happy to sign up, in short: is it possible to know more about it?
Thanks,
Noushin

Seconded. Data is to be consumed and R can handle SPARQL endpoints fine. I see plenty of work needed for QA which can be done very well in R. In fact, creating QuickStatements in R also sounds perfectly viable.

Hello all,

Just arriving here. I have been working on https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:WikiProject_COVID-19 for the past weeks. I will be glad to help however I can! I have to admit that I am a bit lost with the whole bio hackathon planning. I hope I will be able to catch up.

Hi all #wikidata session participants,

I hope you all got in on the webinar that just started (the link you get allows you to register, after which you get the URL for Zoom). It's been recorded in case you missed.

Our #wikidata coordinator, Andra Waagmeester will later present the group.

Egon
