4.) Input Sought: EPA Proposed Oil and Natural Gas Methane Rule -- Comments Due: July 30, 2021 -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is taking the first step to develop a proposed rule to reduce methane and other harmful pollutants from new and existing sources in the oil and natural gas industry. EPA is seeking community and stakeholder input through a public docket for pre-proposal comments, holding training sessions on the rulemaking process and how to participate in it, and convening listening sessions. These actions are a part of the response to a directive in Executive Order 13990, Protecting Public Health and the Environment and Restoring Science to Tackle the Climate Crisis. 8.) 2021 Drinking Water Clinics -- Anyone with a private water supply system (including wells, springs, and cisterns) may participate. Participation is voluntary and information is kept confidential. To learn more about the clinics, see https://www.wellwater.bse.vt.edu/vahwqp.php. Drinking water clinics are organized by local Extension Agents and Virginia Tech faculty in the Biological Systems Engineering Department. Contact your local Extension office to express interest in a clinic. Richmond Paddle Cup -- August 28, 2021 -- American Legion Landing, Midlothian, VA -- The race will be held on the James River and proceeds support the work of the James River Association.  There will be a Fun Paddle (1.0 mi) for more beginner and recreational paddlers, a Short Course (2.5 mi) for intermediate paddlers, a Long Course (5.0 mi) for more experienced racers, and a 22-Mile Rundown for endurance kayak and canoers.  Learn more at https://paddleguru.com/races/2021RichmondPaddleCup.  Prices go up August 1, 2021.  Organized by Crosswind Paddle Company.

Environmental Working Group’s (EWG’s) 2021 Guide to Sunscreens – This guide includes hazard and efficacy ratings for hundreds of sunscreens, daily-use sun protection factor, and lip balm products. The ratings are based on a compilation of standard industry, government and academic data sources; efficacy models; and technical literature.
