Intelligent Water Systems (IWS) Challenge – Registration Deadline: April 29, 2024 -- The Challenge seeks to foster the adoption of smart water technologies by showcasing the ability of intelligent water systems to effectively leverage data for better decisions. The competition provides an opportunity for teams of students, professionals, and/or technology aficionados to showcase their ideas and innovations. The finalists will compete for a grand prize of $10,000 at the WEFTEC 2024 conference in New Orleans, LA, on October 7, 2024.    ++ Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Professional Development Scholarship – Provides a one-year association membership and complimentary conference registration to each of up to three scholarship winners from underrepresented groups in the water resources field.

   ++ Richard A. Herbert Memorial Scholarship – Given to at least one undergraduate and one graduate student who are AWRA student members and are enrolled in a water resources or related program full-time for the 2023-2024 academic year.

Request for Proposals: Watershed Cooperative Agreement Program (WCAP) Grants – Submission Deadline: May 1, 2024 (5pm) – For 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations to undertake acid mine drainage remediation projects. Virginia Sea Grant 2024 Commonwealth Coastal & Marine Policy Fellowship – Application Deadline: May 1, 2024 (5pm); Fellowship Begins: October 1, 2024 – This fellowship partners post-graduates with a state or local government host office. Fellows address pressing coastal and marine resource issues while learning about policy and management process at the state level. Two to three post-graduate fellows are eligible for the 2024 year with up to $43,000 in funding and $5,000 for critical expenses and professional development. Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) Information Resources -- https://www.waterrf.org/news/wrf-pfas-resources -- The Water Research Foundation (WRF) has resources to support the understanding of PFAS and to help communicate with drinking water customers.  The WRF supports scientific research on topics such as the presence of PFAS in water resources, the movement of PFAS throughout the environment, PFAS treatment and destruction methods, and PFAS communication strategies.
