-- Volunteers take water samples every Thursday from Memorial Day to Labor Day for bacteria. Every Friday, results are posted on the James River Watch map. Visit the map to view bacteria scores, river levels, and other pertinent information before recreating
on the river. Rainfall and other events can change conditions, and monitoring data are only posted on Fridays. For the Richmond area, the City of Richmond has a Combined Sewer Overflow Outfalls map that will show recent releases that will increase bacteria
in the river. You can also sign up to receive a weekly email when results are posted. Offered by the James River Association.
