   ++ April 21, 2026 -- Proposed Constitutional Amendment (Statewide) and Alexandria City Council Special Election – Deadlines: Apply for ballot to be mailed to you: TODAY: April 10, 2026; Register to vote/update registration: April 14, 2026; Deadline for early in-person voting: April 18, 2026; -- The ballot for the proposed constitutional amendment question: "Should the Constitution of Virginia be amended to allow the General Assembly to temporarily adopt new congressional districts to restore fairness in the upcoming elections, while ensuring Virginia's standard redistricting process resumes for all future redistricting after the 2030 census?" A "yes" vote would allow the General Assembly to redraw Virginia's congressional districts, since other states have done so, in addition to giving effect to the proposed district map in time for the 2026 Congressional elections, and return the responsibility of drawing the congressional districts in 2031 to the Virginia Redistricting Commission.  A "no" vote would leave the authority to draw congressional districts with the Virginia Redistricting Commission once a decade and Virginia's current districts would remain in place. Comments Accepted: Clean Water Act Financial Capability Assessment (FCA) Guidance -- Comments Due: May 26, 2026 -- This resource aims to help water bills remain affordable during infrastructure upgrades within wastewater systems. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will use feedback to update this guidance. Two stakeholder engagement webinars will take place April 29, 2026 (1-2:30pm) and May 7, 2026 (1-2:30pm). Comments Accepted: Draft Sixth Contaminant Candidate List (CCL 6) – Comments Due: June 5, 2026 -- The CCL identifies drinking water contaminants that are not currently regulated at the federal level but are known or expected to occur in public water systems and may warrant future regulation under the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA). The draft CCL 6 includes 9 microbial contaminants; 75 individual chemicals; and 4 chemical groups: microplastics, pharmaceuticals, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), and disinfection byproducts (DBPs). The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking public comment on both the draft list and the process used to select contaminants. 12.) 4th Annual Southwest Virginia Water Tower Showdown – Registration Deadline: July 2, 2026; Event: July 17, 2026 (9:30am-12pm) -- Roanoke/Lynchburg/Bedford area – Inviting middle school students (rising 6th-8th graders) from public, private, or home schools to participate in teams of up to four students. The students are challenged to build a structurally efficient model water tower that holds one gallon of water and can be filled and drained quickly while also being aesthetically pleasing. Towers are judged on Structural Efficiency, Cost Efficiency, Design Ingenuity, and Hydraulic Efficiency. Learn more at https://vaawwa.org/events/watertowershowdown2026.
