organizations (NGOs), as well as Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) agents, Master Naturalists, Master Gardeners, and Chesapeake Bay Landscape Professionals. Its goal is to provide information on simple streambank erosion control techniques that landowners

Virginia Conservation Assistance Program (VCAP) Pollinator Yard Tour --

(9am-1pm) -- Mechanicsville, VA -- VCAP is an urban cost-share program that provides financial incentives and technical and educational assistance to property owners installing eligible Best Management Practices (BMPs) in Virginia’s participating Soil and
Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs). This event will feature tours of two sites in Hanover with VCAP stormwater BMPs. Participants will learn the benefits of incorporating native plants into a property. For more information and to register, see

Tick Donations Accepted: Old Dominion University (ODU) Tick Team Research Lab
–
Ticks pulled off of you or your pet can be donated to ODU’s Tick Team lab, and ticks removed by hunters from game animals are also accepted. Include who or what the tick was pulled off of (human, dog, deer, etc.), the date the tick was found, and the general
geographic location of the tick. Put the tick in a small ziploc bag and freeze it for at least two hours to ensure it is dead. Make sure the bag is completely sealed, and place into a standard or padded envelope. You can also request testing results for a
specific tick for Borrelia burgdorferi, B. miyamotoi, Anaplasma phagocytophilum,
Ehrlichia chaffeensis, E. ewingii, and Rickettsia spp. for a donation of $50 per tick to cover expenses. Learn more at
