Request for Proposals: Chesapeake Oyster Innovation Award Program – Deadline: September 16, 2021 (4pm) – Seeking projects that meet any of the following three goals: 1) increase knowledge within priority audiences of the value of oysters, oyster fisheries, and aquaculture efforts, 2) advance technologies for increasing oyster population or aquaculture production, and/or 3) advance oyster population monitoring techniques. Request for Applications (RFA): Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) 2021-2022 Citizen Monitoring Grants – Application Deadline: September, 17, 2021 (5pm) -- Grant funds can be used to purchase equipment, pay for lab analyses, and train and educate citizens. This year’s RFA includes an application question to prioritize environmental justice, instructions for using DEQ’s new Electronic Data Mapper, and new guidelines for submitting data to DEQ. Public Hearings - Virginia Water Protection Permit: Mountain Valley Pipeline -- The project is a 42-inch natural gas pipeline located along an approximate 107-mile-long corridor from the Virginia-West Virginia state line in Giles County southeast through Craig County, Montgomery County, Roanoke County, Franklin County, and Pittsylvania County to the Transco Village (located approximately three miles east of Chatham, Virginia). The public comment period is from August 28, 2021 to October 27, 2021.

Report: National Coastal Condition Assessment (NCAA) – Released: August 17, 2021 -- The NCCA reports on the health of estuarine and Great Lakes nearshore waters nationally as well as for four regional estuarine areas (the Northeast, Southeast, Gulf of Mexico, and the West Coast) and each of the Great Lakes separately.
