Webinar: Addressing Emerging Contaminants in Wastewater Treatment Systems – March 19, 2025 (3-4pm) – This webinar will provide an overview of work by the Office of Research and Development to create a framework of wastewater treatment processes, focusing on removal rates of certain emerging contaminants as well as associated life cycle costs and environmental impacts. Call for Abstracts -- EcoStream 2025: Ecology and Restoration Conference – Submission Deadline Extended: March 21, 2025; Conference: August 11-14, 2025 – Ashville, NC – Theme: “A Focus on Science” -- Suggested topics include restoration efforts focused on aquatic species, watershed threats assessment, identifying and assessing failure models, hyporheic zone science, sediment transport analysis, and more. Virtual Workshop: 2025 Environmental Literacy Forum Recap – March 21, 2025 (9am-12pm) – This webinar will provide a recap of resources shared at the in-person Mid-Atlantic Environmental Literacy (EL) Forum held at the National Conservation Training Center February 25-26, 2025. Participants will walk away with new tools for understanding how schools are funded, identifying key partners, and crafting strategic messages. 5.) World Water Day – March 22, 2025 – Theme: “Glacier Preservation” – The day is used to advocate for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. Seeking volunteers to help spread information on the importance of glaciers and water in our everyday lives.  Offering activation kits designed to get school students of all ages involved in the campaign. Youth Ocean Conservation Summit – Registration Deadline: March 24, 2025 (5pm); Summit: April 12, 2025 (8:30am-3:30pm) – Virginia Beach, VA -- Theme: “Environmental Justice” -- This event aims to inspires empower, and enable Hampton Roads youth to develop action plans to help with ocean conservation. Participants will generate action plans that may be used in the community, learn about aquarium volunteer opportunities, and be part of the next generation of environmental stewards. Public Hearing: Tidal Wetlands Permit – March 25, 2025 (9:30am) – Fort Monroe, VA – This hearing is in regards to an application submitted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to place via hydraulic means, 162,500 cubic yards of dredged material from Quinby Creek Federal Channel maintenance project within a historically used placement site along Upshur Bay in Accomack County.
