Summer 2021 Earth Force Educator Workshops – Introduction to Earth Force: June 16, 23, or 30, 2021 (4-6pm); Institute Dates: July 14-15, 21-22, 28-29, 2021 (1-3pm) -- Learn how to help students carry out environmental and civic action projects. Allows students to identify environmental issues in their community, find an effective solution to the issue, and work with people to carry out the solution. 5.) Field Day: Catawba Sustainability Center (CSC) – June 26, 2021 (9am-1pm) -- Catawba, VA (upper James River watershed) -- Learn about research and successful riparian buffer projects. Participants will tour Virginia Tech’s CSC, a 377-acre farm and living laboratory. TMDL Public Meeting: Water Quality Study for Lynch and Reed Creeks (Pittsylvania and Campbell Counties) (Virtual) – June 29, 2021 (6pm) -- DEQ and its contractors will discuss the draft TMDL report and the next steps in the water quality improvement process. Request for Applications (RFA): Provide “Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences” (MWEEs) within Virginia’s Chesapeake Bay Watershed – Closes: June 30, 2021 (4pm) -- Seeking programs that emphasize the use of field experiences, action projects, and other watershed educational services. Particularly encouraging applications that support school divisions designated as a “priority” (underserved and targeted as needing teacher professional development) by the Virginia Department of Education (DOE). Virginia Conservation Network (VCN) Photo Contest – Submission Deadline: June 30, 2021 -- Accepting conservation-minded photos from Virginia.  The winning photo will be the cover photo for VCN’s 2022 Our Common Agenda and will earn a $250 cash prize. Entrants can submit an unlimited number of photos.
