Thanks to Jason for setting this up. I hope as this forum grows our
efforts in Virginia will get noticed. I want to post a couple of
things I've done in the 63rd district which is Petersburg, Colonial
Heights and Dinwiddie County. Our Rep is Roslyn Dance. I sent her this
e-mail a few days ago:
There is a national movement against the prohibition of marijuana. A
lot of the myths about marijuana brought on by seventy years of
propaganda are being dispelled. Among these myths are that marijuana
is like meth, crack and heroin. There has never been a marijuana
overdose ever. Another myth is that marijuana has no medicinal value
and therefore is classified as a schedule I drug. There is a FDA
approved drug called marinol which is synthetic THC. So much for the
medical myth. The third issue is the classification of industrial hemp
as marijuana. In 1941 Henry Ford built a car built almost entirely of
hemp that ran on hemp oil. Hemp has less than 1% THC yet it is
classified along with marijuana because it is in the genus family
cannabis. Please view these two videos one is only 30 seconds (1941)
and the other is 3 minutes (from Wednesday of this week). Is there any
plan to introduce legislation to provide medical marijuana, legalize
recreational marijuana or allow the farming of hemp in Virginia as
there is in other parts of the country?
