Well done Julie
and thanks for sending the beautiful music

For the 2016 season tour:   I think you should ask Tim Harding directly for his feedback.  He is our music guru; and Tim was the man who arranged the Kokanko gig so successfully.

take care

Hello, all!  I hope you all are enjoying the summer! Following up on Kokanko Sata Doumbia's successful 2014 tour, here is a link for the new Cradle of Jazz Project tour which brings together Mande and American history and music.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmKhDQNofrw&feature=youtu.be, featuring Lamine Soumano (guitar & kora); Kokanko Sata Doumbia (kamalen ngoni, calabash, vocals; & Assakaba Drame (jeli ngoni).

The tour coincides with my ongoing research regarding the migration of the Mande during the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade (see from 5 mins. forward in the link for history.)

It seems to be that time of the year when universities are looking to the fall of 2016 already. We would love for this Strings Showcase to visit Richmond, to connect with both Virginia Friends of Mali, VCU, and WRIR.

All the best to each of you, and I hope to be in touch soon!
