The local Alliance Française chapter in Richmond was approached by a French documentary maker who is currently in Canada and is making plans to travel the East Coast to show his film, a short, 27-minute film in French is about French language in Senegal, its effect on music and culture there, and implications for "Francophonie" in the future (by 2050 85% of the French speaking world will be in Africa and some predict that French may actually become the most widely spoken language in the world).

The VCU French Section is pleased to announce that it will host a screening and discussion on April 13 from 4:00-5:30 pm in West Grace North 1030J (Globe Residence Hall building).

As the film is in French and this panel-type discussion about the film will be conducted primarily in French, it is recommended that the audience have at least a conversational grasp of the French language. There will be more than enough bilinguals to translate for those who may not feel comfortable speaking French.

For colleagues and students who may find this interesting.
