This notice is to inform the membership, of the East Central Region No.
2, that the 15-16 years old athletes will be required to produce proof
of citizenship at the upcoming regional Junior Olympic championships.
This is as per the teleconference with the LBC presidents and their
Junior Olympic chairs held on Monday 18 APRIL 2011. It was decided
that we would enforce the USA Boxing regulation regarding citizenship
at the regional level to ensure that all advancing athletes are
verified at this level and that there will be no mistakes or
discrepancies once they reach the national championships.
The USA Boxing rules is as follows:
"Citizenship is required of all athlete participants in the
tournament. Permanent residency is no longer sufficient. Birth
certificates and/or citizenship are required in order to compete. All
athletes must bring an original certified birth certificate or proof
of citizenship to registration. (i.e. valid government issued
passport)"
All are encouraged to help spread the word to all the gyms in your
area. If there are any questions or concerns please contact your LBC
president for clarification and guidance.
