Mr. Matney,

Hello my name is Lonnie Hayes, I am a amateur boxer and I was one of those kids. I know that if it wasn't for boxing, my coach and the lessons I learned in the ring that I applied to my life. I wouldn't be on the positive road I'm on now. I would like to help revive the sport.

Sincerely,

Lonnie hayes

Be involved with your USA Boxing Local Boxing Committee (LBC). Attend
meetings, go to amateur bouts, become a certified and registered
official or coach, help gyms in your area and stay in touch with me.
Membership in USA Boxing is important to sustain the amateur programs
around the country. If you are in Virginia, stay up on the events like
meeting and bouts by frequently visiting www.vausaboxing.org. Aslo
subscribe to our USA Boxing Grassroots Group to be involved with
issues that affect the organization as a whole.
The program is alive and well. We have about 35 shows a year and
around 4 LBC meetings too. We just set a new VA/NC Golden Gloves
record with 30 participating registered clubs. Our events garner local
news coverage and hundreds of people attend the events. We need more
people like you because we can never be big enough.
