Hello friends and community members,
I would like to invite you all to an event this coming week. The event is linked to the development of a community garden in the Fairfield area. The process of establishing the garden is coming into fruition and I am looking forward to an Open House that we are hosted this Tuesday. This is an important step in the development of the project as is an opportunity for community members to show their support or to demonstrate their concern and opposition. As we are looking at implementing this project in a City of Victoria park, this is an issue for all residents of Victoria not just Fairfield residents (therefore you are ALL welcome!). As well the aproval of this garden project will set an important precedent in the food resilience movement, as part of our design includes putting allotment garden in the parks. Additionally the project includes planting a variety of trees, bushes and herbaceous perennials creating a vibrant food forest which will provide long term food security in a public place.
This email is a call out to anyone enthused by permaculture gardens, community building, food security initiatives, anyone who supports community gardening and planting food bearing trees in parks, or is just interested to see what is going on.
The Open house is Tuesday the 10th of August, between 7 and 9, at the Garry Oak Room, drop in and show your support, have some refreshments and take a looks at what's going on. If you have any questions you can contact me. As well check out our blog at http://fairfieldcommunitygardens.blogspot.com/
If you cannot attend and still want to show your support, do consider writing a letter of support for the gardens (((email it to me or fairfieldcom...@gmail.com))). We need to show that Victoria residents are behind this project and that people want to see this happen.
Thanks for your support,
Chloe
please forward this to anyone who you think would be interested. thanks
