Interested in volunteering? Please attend or contact us to learn more about getting involved in a variety of different ways (outreach, volunteer coordination, fundraising, events, human rights advocacy, board membership & other ways we have not even thought of yet.
What is a Board of Directors? A board of directors (bod) often consist of a president, treasurer, and secretary as well as directors at large. A bod is required by law to run non-profit registered society in BC. VIHRC is a non-profit registered society. To learn more specifically about the legal obligations of a board of directors, see page 47, chapter 4: for boards and directors, as published by the People's Law School in Volunteers and the Law.
Interested in board membership? VIHRC's board of directors has historically operated on more of a collective basis rather than by voting and through rigid motions. However, a reliable, socially conscious board of directors is required to run a human rights society. If becoming a board member interests please contact us for more information. Or see below for nomination and election instructions.
email us a nomination form, or fill one out at the AGM
fill out a membership form and pay corresponding annual membership fee (if you have not already done so)
attend the AGM or send your note of interest through email and we will have it read at the AGM
