Membership? Membership is not required unless nominating or voting. Anyone can become a member of VIHRC. Membership forms are available via email and at the AGM, but again, are not required for attending. The Annual Membership fee is $2 for an individual or $10 for an organization.
Interested in volunteering? Please attend or contact us to learn more about getting involved in a variety of different ways (outreach, volunteer coordination, fundraising, events, human rights advocacy, board membership & other ways we have not even thought of yet.
What is a Board of Directors? A board of directors (bod) often consist of a president, treasurer, and secretary as well as directors at large. A bod is required by law to run non-profit registered society in BC. VIHRC is a non-profit registered society. To learn more specifically about the legal obligations of a board of directors, see page 47, chapter 4: for boards and directors, as published by the People's Law School in Volunteers and the Law.
Interested in board membership? VIHRC's board of directors has historically operated on more of a collective basis rather than by voting and through rigid motions. However, a reliable, socially conscious board of directors is required to run a human rights society. If becoming a board member interests please contact us for more information.
