Apple is planning to introduce a new version of the

iPhone SE

this year, and alleged dummy models are starting to leak out. Sonny Dickson today

shared some images

of an ‌iPhone SE‌ 4 dummy model, giving us insight into what it could look like.

iphone se 4 dummy

For those unfamiliar with dummy models, they are non-functional mockups of new devices that case makers create based on information that leaks out of Apple's

partner factories. There is big money in being the first to have a case for a new device, and over the years, leaked dummy models have turned out to be

accurate in most cases.

Rumors have suggested the next ‌iPhone SE‌ will look like the

iPhone 14,

and that seems to be accurate based on the images. There's an iPhone-14 style chassis with an aluminum band, a glass back, and a single-lens rear camera.

iphone se 4 dummy 2

There have been suggestions that the ‌iPhone SE‌ 4 could get an Action Button or the Camera Control button that's available on

iPhone 16

models, but neither of those features is depicted on these dummy models. That doesn't mean it won't happen, but it does make it less likely because case

makers would need to accommodate these features.

The upcoming ‌iPhone SE‌ has been largely referred to as the ‌iPhone SE‌ 4, but there was a recent rumor indicating that Apple might call it the

iPhone

16E. Along with the visible features from the dummy model, the ‌iPhone SE‌ is expected to include a faster A17 Pro chip that supports

Apple Intelligence,

an Apple-designed modem chip, and 8GB RAM. While it will only have that single camera, the camera is the same 48-megapixel Wide camera in the current ‌iPhone

16‌.

We are expecting to see Apple debut the next ‌iPhone SE‌ sometime in March or April, and it will continue to be the company's lowest-cost device. It could

go up in price a bit, but Apple is said to be aiming to keep it below $500.

I believe I'll spend my time on iPhone models that actually exist rather than reading a multitude of articles speculating what the iPhone SE 4 will have and how it compares with existing models.

I would agree.  By this point I would say what we are reading is pretty accurate.

Yes it is, and it has been leeked by staff from within apple and associated people from organisations known to give correct information.

But hey everyones different so waiting until the phone arrives is still not a bad idea.

No, the action button on some of the newer iPhones takes the place of the mute switch and can also be assigned to do other things as well.

The new phone will have the usual mute switch that you are used to. There will be no home button on the new phone. It will use face ID.

No,

The action button on the iphone is above the volume buttons
The toggle that mutes / unmutes the ringer,

They made it haptic so no physical movement,
And gave it smarts so you can set it to do any of a few things

Yeah, they should be a good device,

My suggestion would be don't let anyone put you off just because they are the entry level device,
Honestly they have everything in them that anyone really needs,

Unless you were really were in the need for Lidar or the best quality screen resolution,
They will be a great little phone.

Good luck.

If the new SE4 or 16E would have a one terabyte option, I’d be very tempted to get it. I’m looking forward to hearing what people think of the new phone. It does have everything someone would need.

Hi,

Fully agree,

But why does one need 1 terabyte of storage on a phone?

iCloud only gives 5gb for fre,
and if you carry that much data,
is it backed up or do you just hope you don't lose the device.

Ūm,

You wont know that until the device is released to the world in march or when ever.

You may know what current devices are coming out with, but no one knows what is in the next model until it's released.

Well, I appreciate the 1 TB option for sure. I can keep my entire audiobook and lossless music library on my device, and still have space for downloads of TV series that I might want to indulge in while on the move (which, to be sure, is happening less lately).

And you can back it all up locally to your computer; you don't in fact need iCloud. Indeed I'm only on the 200 GB plan, and most of that is taken by my family; I only store synced eBooks from third-party sources and my iCloud mail there. Honestly if it weren't for the iCloud Plus features, I'd try to find a way to eliminate even that, so I'd have no ongoing subscriptions to pay. And for some of us, that (and having everything at your fingertips) really are the most important thing, even if you have to pay a bit more (OK, quite a bit more) up front.

Hi Simon, I buy the phone with the least amount of storage as I do not use my phone for storing audio/video stuff.
I have a 500 gig drive on this pc, aand every 2 or 3 months, I connect one of my external drives to the pc and transfer all the multimedia files I have downloaded to that drive. It is usually about 300 gig and that is a lot of talking books etc..
Sure, some people like having lots of stuff on their phones.
Heck, if you were into movies, it would not take long to fill a tb.
