Disorderliness - spell effects seem barely controlled or else appear "cheshire cat' fashion.
Smoke - spell effects appear in a puff of smoke or else leave a smoke trail behind, or leave a smokey smell.
Pine scent - caster, targets, or affected items emit a scent reminiscent of pine trees.
Spirals - spell effects (or their targets) feature a spiral motif, or else move in a helical course.
Chains - spell effects appear to involve chains, targets feel as if weighed with chains. Sound of rattling chains.
Sweetness - targets taste sweet, experience as sweet taste in their mouths, or appear to drip honey.
Soot - caster, targets, or affected objects appear to be covered in soot when spells are cast.
Darkness - Caster, targets or objects affected by magic always appear to be cloaked in shadow.
Buzzing - Spellcasting or the targets of ongoing effects emit an obnoxious droning sound like winged insects.
Silver - spell effects tend to exhibit the colour silver, or appear in a shower of silvery dust
The sigils I remember from published magi seem to be mostly 'side effects' rather than 'ways the magic manifests'. Back in 4th ed there was a Hermetic Flaw called Warped Magic that meant all your magic was accompanied by some side effect - like puffs of smoke. But your casting sigil could very well be the 'way' the magic looked e.g. mysterious. So spells cast leave for a short while trails of smoke forming strange symbols or shapes.
It is an open secret that wizarding apprentices often take up pipe smoking before graduation. Tradition and peer pressure play roles in this trend, but also the practice of Typhomancy, or smoke magic, which wizards can practice by blowing elaborate shapes in puffs of smoke. A few even go on to specialize in this field of magic, mastering every spell that can channel smoke or fog and learning to generate magically-animated smoke creatures from their eversmoking pipes. Masters of the form can even create smoky near-duplicates of dragons, giants, golems, and even themselves.
If using a candle for the effect, it is better if it is illustrated as just been extinguished.(candles don't really give off a lot of smoke when lit)
Also perhaps pick a pale blue to replicate the smoke I also duplicated the smoke layer (after running dents) and set the upper layer blend mode to colour burn with an opacity of 90. A better effect IMO
Cool little tute, but as nitenurse has already mentioned, you only get a lot of smoke after a candle has gone out and it's not white. I will use the white smoke effect for where it is needed and a blue ish smoke for other effects. Nicely written and worth a rep point for sure.
This wizard herb is one of the seeds I have already ordered for next year:) So grateful for this timely post, Lucinda. I have been growing and starting to use blue vervain recently and thought I would love to compare and contrast so hoping this vervain will like to grow here next year. Wow, indeed you have demonstrated a vast range of useful applications! I can thoroughly understand why it is one of your favorite herbs to give after reading this! Thank you so much for sharing dear one! Love to you and the kitties xx
Throughout the last century smoking a tobacco pipe has become a staple of a wise man, Tolkien, in his stories wrote about wizards smoking long churchwarden pipes pondering over long past history and Ancient magic just like the modern man ponders over his problems. Some of the greatest men of our modern history have smoke tobacco pipes, a man smoking a pipe is an image engraved in our modern cultural perspective, this is an image which radiates masculine energy and knowledge it is a symbol of a man who has passed his rites of initiation into manhood and became a fully-fledged warrior man.
My grandfather protracted his life to 100 years old smoking stogies as well as drinking beers on occasion to put out his stress from life. As you had mentioned, he did not go to the processed stuff (including the fake cigars, fake tins, or cigarettes at gas stations bearing out the benefits from good. He was still walking, raising cattle, though blind a bit from old age. Never croaked in his voice, had a good memory. That is what inspired me to smoke on occasion setting aside a week or way more after him. Every time I look into the subject of tobacco, it turns out that good tastes cleaner, no overmuch headiness, and no chemicals for other forced effects. It does still pivot on self-control for using tobacco namely good, just like too much fried food in your diet, can build up to a sickness. But generally, it has benefits that work life putting out my stress and cloudy thoughts to feel my best to this day.
So with Video Copilot, I guess my thought at the time, I can't remember specifically, but I remember thinking, "Hey, I'm working on a couple of these graphics. I'm working on a couple of these effects. I bet you I could show people how I made this," because I was on Creative COW and you'd see people like, "Hey, how do I do this? And how do I do that?" And for me, that was, I would say, "Oh, I know how to do that." Or, "That's a good question," and I might research it. And I got a chance to work at the studio and they had this library of smoke elements that they had filmed that you could sort of composite into the shots. And I just thought, "How cool is it to have those kinds of assets available to just grab," just like Clip Art before stock footage was a very prominent thing.
No. It's not something that has come up too much. Actually, here's an interesting story. My daughter had a drama, media class and my wife maybe offered up me to come to, I don't know, a career day kind of thing. I couldn't make it, so I said, "Well, listen, I'll come in one afternoon and I'll bring my laptop. I'll do a little mini presentation." I put together a few, here's a little bit of Star Wars, here's a little bit of this and I'll just talk basically about how after effects works and the idea behind post editing for a class, I think it was fourth or fifth graders. I get in there and it was a lot of fun actually. I showed the kids and they were all super into it. I was showing the graphics and they had a good time. Then I'm like, I worked on this movie and they just were not impressed. They're like, "Do you work on any video games?" I was like, "No." They were like, "Did you work on Minecraft?" I was like, "No."
"Well, no, but I mean a real one. I could be famous." I was trying to explain to her you don't need to be famous. If you help people, that's a side effect, and that's how I look at what I see when you go to conferences. I don't think people come up to you because they've seen you on YouTube. I think they come up to you because you've helped them. I mean, I'm going to have to take a screenshot of our alumni group comments and blur out the names for the alumni listening so you can see the things the lives you've changed. I know you know all of this. I told you there was going to be smoke blown up your ass, by the way. This is coming out of nowhere.
Yeah, I agree. I think that when that stuff starts trickling into... I mean, it's already making its way into the 3D world pretty quickly and I hope that it also makes its way into after effects in one form or another. I know that when it does and I need to know how it works, I will go to your YouTube channel and I will watch the videos. Andrew, thank you so much. My last question for you, it's a simple one. I'm hoping you can help me. just imagine that you had a podcast and it was the 100th episode of the podcast and you knew it was going to be very exciting, and you were the host. How would you introduce that podcast?
The Wizard Cobbit Corn Cob Pipe from Missouri Meerschaum is the largest in our Cobbit Collection of churchwarden style pipes. It features a unique, deep bowl that will hold enough leaf for a long, relaxing, and thoughtful smoke befitting a wizard.
wow this pipe is just awesome. Look here if you are wanting to slow down and kick back after a hard weeks work then this pipe is the one to grab and fill with your favorite leaf. But be warn the wizard will take your mind, body & soul to that place of comfort & relaxation that you are seeking. May the Cob Gods always bless your leaf & the cobs you smoke your leaf in.
I recently ordered my wizard cobbit pipe and after about 4 bowls I noticed a small crack in the shank. I contacted MM via email and attached a picture. They are sending me a new one with no questions asked. I am gonna be a lifetime customer! Thanks again Marilyn for helping me out.
This case study uses data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey Data Epidemiologic Follow-up Study (NHEFS). It attempts to accurately quantify the effect of smoking cessation on weight gain. In short, do people gain weight after giving up smoking?
Sometime prior to 1997, Tom Riddle succeeded where most other wizards had failed and managed true flight. He first publicly demonstrated this ability during the Battle of the Seven Potters, using the spell to great effect and almost managing to defeat Harry Potter while he was fighting him from the sky. It was likely that he would have killed Harry if not for an odd reaction involving their wands.[1]
