I'm very frustrated. I am completing a graduation ceremony video for our high school. Got it done in proshow producer, which I've been using for 5 years now. Published it, sent it out to our admin and now changes need to be made. Once I made the changes, I went to republish it. Now it won't republish without a watermark stating its an evaluation. I purchased this and all the upgrades. When I try my old activation keys its says their not recognized. So like other's I decided to go to Photopia director, since it was recommended. Everything moved over just fine, but I can't publish the d*** thing. I needed this, like, yesterday. I have a group of seniors that really need this to boost their moral. I put in a support request, but am waiting to hear back. I have shut off my virus protection during publishing, turned off background running apps, but it will only give me up to the first 8 minutes (its 28 minutes long).
Now that I've entered the registration information, when I export I'm no longer seeing just a watermark, the entire video shows a message: "This software may be in use illegally." And leads me to this unhelpful link: . Anyone else? Has anyone exported successfully?
I searched and found this forum on behalf of a friend who is a long time supporter of Proshow Gold and has paid for every update until the last version. She creates slide shows to entertain seniors and relies of the app to do her work. When it suddenly reverted to a Trial version earlier this week she was understandably very upset and this morning when I told her that the 'validation' servers were now back on line she was relieved. She entered her serial number and the app came back to life.
I have been using computers for many years and have never (or rarely) heard of an app that will 'call home' after a valid registration code has been entered. I can understand that an activation server is needed when doing a re-install ... but not after the app is properly activated!
When Adobe acquired Macromedia they provided perpetual keys to all registered users and those special keys (similar to what beta testers use) would never expire and did not require an activation server to validate them.
I have the same problem that others are having... I can't publish anything after having this program run for years now. I really hate this now... I am not going to sign on to anything else with these people. After paying in good faith that I had ownership of the program that have closed it and stopped it from running. I have a good mind to complain to the BBB and AG of Texas... I have had ProShow Gold for years and now all I see is this program maybe running illegally...REALLY... what's illegal is the company stopping so many people from using their software that they have purchased. I am up-set!!
We're right there with everyone on these ProShow activation issues. Hopefully, they'll get those activation servers working properly again at some point so that everyone who wants to continue working with ProShow can do so. Unfortunately, we don't have any control over their servers / infrastructure.
If you really didn't keep a copy of (or cannot find) your activation key you might consider using a utility such as Belarc Advisor which will show what serial numbers you have associated with the software installed on your computer and it might reveal your Proshow Gold activation key even if the software itself is not properly recognizing it. You could then reactivate it on the now working activation/validation server.
I have reached for hours looking for my registration number I can't find it. I have found email when they there CompuPic and even the exe. file for both ProShow Gold and CompuPic Slidshow but not registration number. I am going to start looking for something else to use... I can not continue on like this. Does many one know of something else?
Since Photodex closed down January, 31 2020, users are unable to activate their ProShow Gold (despite having legitimate registration codes) when they migrate to a new PC or have a hard drive crash. The final version of ProShow Gold is 9.0.3797, but as yet I'm unable to provide an activation for that version. In the meantime, a previous version 9.0.3771 can be activated and does not need to connect to the non-existent servers which has failed many users. This activation can be used on multiple computers. Please refer to the screenshots I have done when I installed Gold on my Windows 10 PC. I do not use ProShow Gold, I use ProShow Producer. I have posted this for friends who still want to use ProShow Gold, although it is not as feature rich as ProShow Producer. This is NOT a warez or crack site, it is simply for people at their wits end who are legitimate users of ProShow Gold. I am not depriving Photodex of revenue as the company has long gone off the scene, but many people still like using ProShow and find they can't activate their legitimate registration codes and therefore cannot "register" the software if they've had a crash or shifting to a new computer or laptop, etc.
Please note that Photopia is not part of Photodex and we don't have any control over their activation servers, which seem to be having some trouble recently. Understanding a bit about how their system is supposed to work, your best option is probably going to be a periodic check of their activation system, which can be done by re-registering that ProShow installation. If the registration is accepted, try to output your show(s) again. I'm sorry we don't have a better option for you. Unfortunately, this is an issue we can't resolve from our end.
@rp_mtl Thanks for that , my Proshow Producer stopped working after a Microsoft upgrade. I've found the registration key email with the key. The programme will not accept the key because it links to online server of Proshow which is now closed down. So my program no longer works.
I have the same problem. I spent hundreds of dollars on this product as I have every style pack they made. I had to replace my hard drive as it was unstable--so I opted for a Solid State Drive. I have all the registration codes for several generations of the product. It tells me that the Activation Server is Unavailable. We were told before the company dissolved that we would have access to products we already purchased. I have the codes. I made sure they were saved to external drives. Why would I trust a new business--this one--Photopia, created from the old one--Photodex, that left me high and dry without a way to even edit past videos? This is terrible. I am not going to purchase anything from this company because they are tied to the bad practices of the old company.
I would recommend contacting them right now to see if your old registration number is still valid, or securing your current valid number, and while you've got them, ask them how much longer their validation server will be active.
I guess I'm going to have to hang out on that forum. I was of the mind that even if the registration servers were some day removed (which I fully expect to happen sooner or later), a properly activated copy of the program would operate at least until it became necessary to re-install it.
