Do You Need Half Life 2 For Gmod

So i want to get gmod rn, but some old threads and some old youtube vids say that you need half life 2, csgo and tf2 for most of the textures to work. So do you still need them to this day? Or is it just an older thing
WAIt wait wait wait so u need to download all of these games to get the ragdolls then u need to download gmod? that a lot of stuff to download so do u neeed to download couterstrike and all of that stuff?
does gmod ( or gmod 11 ) to steam it's just gmod i had almost mistaken it for the first gmod does gmod 11 need source engines and is it legal to download some models , guns , etc..? without buyin the different games cuz... i live in the phillipines
i have all of the source games half life 2 ep1 ep2 portal css dods every game that garrysmod runs on except zeno clash =( but still gmod 10 you get a tool gun instead of a crossbow and the graphics are better physics ar better there are vids on youtube showing that the menu looks alot better you ge thigh detail sliders and the menu has a spawnlist that you can put like 20000 tools in plus gmod 10 can use the newest addons like life support stargate and stuff like that if you use those on gmod 9 they dont always work properly... so i think that that answers your question right???
