Ihave a business grade HP machine still running Windows 7 that came with the machine.
I want to update it now to Windows 10.
The main link on the MS site for downloading the Update (22H2 - -us/software-download/windows10) is giving me an error on both my desktop and laptop machines when I go to launch the exe it downloads:
If I download the "Create installation media" file, will that give me the same option to "update over Windows 7" the exact same way the Update link would (if it was working properly, that is)?
I recently upgraded my PC desktop to Windows 11. Dropbox worked perfectly in Windows 10, and when I upgraded my laptop to 11, it was seamless. On the desktop, I can access Dropbox through the web, but updated files from my other computers do not show up as updated when I load them into their usual application on the desktop! (for example, I can "see" an updated Excel file in the Dropbox viewer, but when I try to open it up in Excel, I only get an older file.) I think the Dropbox app is not loaded in Windows 11, but when I attempt to install the download (both the regular and the extended), I get an error message that the files needed cannot be accessed. Is this the problem? If so, how do I fix it? The Microsoft Store only has something called Dropbox for S Mode (I don't have S Mode, as far as I know). Should I use that? This is both confusing and frustrating. Help!

I suspect there's an issue with the Dropbox app. It is in the list of apps I can get to through the Start menu, but when I click on it, nothing happens. There's no icon for Dropbox on the Taskbar or in the Hidden Icons cluster.
I tried (several times) to download and install the Dropbox app from the Dropbox website. The download seemed to go properly, and it started to install, but then stopped, and I got an error message to the effect that the installer could not open the proper files.
I downloaded Dropbox for S App again, and opened it. The up-to-date files are there, much like on the Dropbox website, but when I try to open a file (for example an Excel file, using Excel), it's empty. If I look for the file through Excel, it's not the up-to-date file. This isn't the answer...
Yes. I can open the web-based Dropbox, and it's up-to-date. The problem occurs when I try to either access a Dropbox file from one of my Office applications (Excel, Word), or open a file from the web-based Dropbox into the Office application (in which case it does not load up, or I get the non-updated file from before I upgraded to Windows 11).
The link you sent me for getting out of S mode applied to Windows 10, not Windows 11, and I could not make sense of how to apply them to what I saw in my now Windows 11. If you think this really might be the issue, can you provide any instructions about what to do?
If your computers were accidentally upgraded to Windows 10 in the past and rolled back, that would have them in the system as valid for Windows 10. If Windows 10 is installed without a license it will work indefinitely, eventually not allowing you to change from a plain background and putting a watermark in the corner. Windows 10 will get (free) security patches until October 2025. After that point, ESU or 0patch are your main options.
First do a full image backup of the computers, then you can attempt an upgrade (especially if you have a plan in place for dealing with the license issue). A clean install should not be necessary. To upgrade, you do not boot from a Windows 10 USB drive, instead you mount the ISO and run setup.exe or run setup.exe from the USB drive. One way to download the ISO is choose create installation media from here:
Also, Woot! has a 30 day money back guarantee, except when they have a closeout sale and they specifically state that there are no returns. One time I had a return for an MP3 player and they told me to keep it. They gave me a full refund. This was before Amazon bought them.
A few months after MS stopped activating Win10 via a Win7 & Win8.1 product keys I found myself in need of a few more Win10 Pro keys in preparation for potential future upgrades to Win11 should I choose to do so.
After some preliminary online research, I purchased 1 Win10 Pro key mainly for testing purposes. That was in Jan of this year. The key I received (within seconds of purchase via email) was an OEM license for Win10 Pro.
As Win10 Pro had been previously installed & running perfectly to my satisfaction on one of the test laptops, the received product key activated successfully with the MS activation servers without any hesitation or issues what-so-ever.
If your windows are in good condition, taking steps to improve their efficiency may be the most cost-effective option to increase the comfort of your home and save money on energy costs. There are several things you can do to improve the efficiency of your existing windows:
First look for the ENERGY STAR label when buying new windows. Then review ratings on the energy performance label from the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) to find the most efficient windows for your needs.
Certainly there will be no effect on Qlik Sense product during the OS upgrade but as a pre-requisite it is mandatory to take a full backup of Qlik Sense so in case of any issue you may restore it back to its good known configuration.
Keep in mind upgrading the OS could have impacts to the server resources. While it shouldn't change anything in Qlik, the new version may use additional memory which could impact performance. You may want to check with Microsoft on recommended hardware specs for the upgraded version.
To get accurate information about the compatibility and behavior of Qlik Sense on Windows Server 2019, I recommend reaching out to the official Qlik support team. They will have the most up-to-date knowledge and can guide you through the process of upgrading your OS while ensuring the smooth functioning of your Qlik Sense application.
When it comes to finding a product key, it's important to prioritize security and legality. I would advise against using third-party tools like the one mentioned on -
auto.org, as they claim to hack the operating system. Instead, follow the official methods recommended by the software provider.
It works !, after inplace upgrade to server 2019 make sure to install dot framework 4.8 which is required to run may 2023 qliksense , the qliksense services dont start if dot framework 4.8 is not installed
It says now iCloud Photos "initializing" when I right click the iCloud icon in the system tray. iCloud drive "updated 2 minutes ago" (I have just few MB in drive so this synced faster, Photos has 250GB and will take longer)
Click on 'Reset' to delete the app's data, then try opening iCloud again. It should ask you to sign back in with your AppleID, and once logged in it should open normally. The only drawback is that you might need to set 'Always keep on this device' on your files again if you'd set that previously, then give it time to pull it all back down again.
After reading about the missing C++, I went to -US/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170 and downloaded the version I needed for my computer. Deleting and reinstalling didn't work. Turning off my security didn't work. But after the download, I am able to now sign into iCloud for windows.
Well, I have a couple TBs of data on my computer, so I'd rather not reinstall. I just downloaded the latest C++ runtime and updated Visual Studio, then reset iCloud. Upon iCloud's first boot, everything seemed to be working fine except for the iCloud password manager extension for Chrome. I then tried closing and reopening iCloud, but it threw me the same error once again.
I then tried to down load and install iCloud from the Microsoft store. This failed complaining there was a missing C++ dll, which one I did not take note of. I assumed other products were downloading it thats whay some installs worked.
Found out what the issue was - when I ran setup.exe /compat with the Windows 11 installer it came up with processor not compatible with Windows 11 - despite the manufactures website saying that the serial number is compatible with windows 11 and supplies all the right drivers!!!
Had the same issue with going from Windows 11 21H2 to 23H2 erroring out -while going from Windows 10 20H2/22H2 to Windows 11 23H2 worked fine. Ran the setup command like you said and it came back with the same processor error. Was able to get around that by adding a step to the task sequence that added the registry key Microsoft put out to bypass TPM requirements ( Ways to install Windows 11 - Microsoft Support ) before the system upgrade step.
