Previously I updated my windows 10 to windows 11 Home through the Microsoft's website using the Windows 11 Installation Assistant. The update was successful and everything was working fine. Then I replaced my 128 GB M.2 SSD with a 256 GB PCIe NVME SSD. So, I had to install windows 11 using a bootabe USB stick. Ever since the installation, my Synaptics Fingerprint sensor is not being recognized by the system. I need some help with this. I looked for Biometric Devices in device manager it is not listed there. I tried checking for updates, there no update at all. I tried installing the synaptics driver sp81786, it didn't work as well.
The only suggestion I can offer as I posted earlier would be to check the advanced options section of the Windows update app in the settings menu and see if there are any optional updates that are available.
"Thank you very much for the solution of my problem. I didn't know about the option to install further updates in that hidden Windows Update menu. In the menu were around 20 driver-updates, that Windows had recognized as not important. I started the debugging after your second reply with the installation of the hidden updates, that I haven't found before. After this installation, all devices worked properly and also my fingerprint reader was recognized again. So it seems like, every missing driver was included in the updates. Everything is now working fine!"
Hello, I just bought a new m6-1045dx and I have been trying to get the fingerprint scanner to work. I currently have Simplepass Identity Protection downloaded, but it says "Program operation error. Please restart computer..." When I tried to fix the problem via Biometric Devices, they were not present in the control panel OR device manager. Help?
Okay, when I try to download the driver, it opens up the window. I click next, I click I agree to the terms, clicked the location to save the files, then it begins extracting files. A pop up shows that says "The following file is already on your computer: C:\SWSetup\sp56957\autorun.inf, do you wish to overwrite this file?" and when I click yes, another file comes up with the same message. When I press "yes to all," it finishes extracting in about 2 seconds, then the window just closes, and nothing else happens. So I go to device manage, and biometric devices is not on there. ??? The downloading isn't working I think.
Oh. And I believe I uninstalled simplepass earlier because it was not working, but did not reinstall it. So I just tried installing the link you sent me, and mid-install, everything I had running (chrome, itunes, etc) all closed, including the downloader.
OKAY last reply until you reply, sorry. Biometric devices are now showing up on control panel, but it says "there are no fingerprint readers attached to this computer or all the fingerprint readers are being used by programs." Biometric devices are not showing up on device manager.
Okay, I went into bios and there is no option for biometric devices, so I tried the second thing, to remove simplepass, reboot and try to install, and it, again, did not install, and again, Biometric Devices is not showing up in device manager
Maybe a different driver would do it, but I am not sure why the wrong driver would be listed on your website. And, if that is the wrong driver, then you'd need a different version of the Software. All things I can do...
I hate to do that to you, but you have to get the Validity Sensor driver installed so you can install the SimplePass Software. Something is wrong and redoing things over and over is not fixing it.
@Reza_Ameri My biometric device is also not shown in the device manager and it is showing that "there is no fingerprint scanner compatible" in the sign-in options. I checked for updates but there are none. This problem is after I updated to windows 11.
Biometric devices are a quick and secure way of logging in to your PC, without undergoing the minor hassle to input the password each time. But what would you do if biometric devices are not showing in Device Manager in Windows 11?
Windows offers users three quick ways to login into their computers, namely, Face Recognition, Fingerprint, and PIN. But, keep in mind that to get the first two to work, you will have to set up the third on your device.
When you connect a device to your computer, Windows will, most likely, automatically install a driver for it. However, when you disconnect it, the driver is kept so that you can easily use this device the next time.
But, these devices are hidden so as to keep the Device Manager uncluttered. In case the biometric devices are not showing in Device Manager in Windows 11 even under the hidden ones, try the other methods listed below.
The DISM (Deployment Image Servicing and Management) is a tool that looks for corruption in the OS. It can also modify the Windows image or the Windows installation files, in order to eliminate issues with the system
The last thing I tried was the help section of Windows Hello, and after some troubleshooting, a possible fix was to deinstall the fingerprint device (via device manager > biometric devices) and installing it again. What I stupidly did, was deinstalling the device before going online to search where i could install it again. So now I don't have the goodix fingerprint device anymore, and can't find anything online on how to install it again to fix it.
I am not talking about the fingerprint driver, but about the device. Some context: if I try to update the fingerprint driver, I get the following error pop-up (see image attached).
I checked the device manager and I saw something I find rather worrysome... It tells me the device is "not connected". To fix I need to reconnect the device, however, the device is built-in to the laptop, so how am I supposed to reconnect it?
I honestly don't know what to do at this point. I already reinstalled Windows, I really don't wanna go through this process again, as it takes a lot of time and there's always potential to lose files.
I can give you a little bit of hope in this case in that the problem eventually went away after another update. All manner of restarts, driver downloads, etc. didn't really do anything but things seemed to mostly go back to normal with the exception of occasional squirreliness.
I had this same problem shortly after an update. I searched everywhere and completed the bios update and also received the same error message when I tried to install the Goodix driver. Fortunately, I found this YouTube video and resolved the problem after following the first three steps (there were more but I didn't need it).
I had the same problem, I just when into the boot menu (spamming F12 when starting the computer) and there I ran the diagnostics tool. The result was that all test passed. After exiting and rebooting as normal my fingerprint sensor was again working.
I frequently have the fingerprint reader stop working. My workaround is to open the device manager as administrator, uninstall the device (without deleting the driver) and scan for hardware changes.
It seems to be a driver issue, that the driver crashes.
Is there a fix planned?
After adding the proper %SingleAdbInterface% and %CompositeAdbInterface% entries to the android_winusb.inf file, I now see "Android ADB Interface" in my Device Manager. However, running adb devices at the command-line does not show the device.
There is yet another subtle difference. In the winusb.inf file, for Slate 7 I have two %CompositeAdbInterface% entries defined but for Slate 21, there is just one %CompositeAdbInterface% entry defined.
Note that by following above steps, in most cases the USB-connection mode will be automatically set to MTP (Media Transfer Prorocol), but try setting that manually if it does not happen automatically.
While many of these solutions have worked for me in the past, they all failed me today on a Mac with a Samsung S7. After trying a few cables, someone suggested that the ADB connection requires an official Samsung cable to work. Indeed, when I used the Samsung cable, ADB worked just fine. I hope this helps someone else!
In Galaxy s6 - I resolved it by: Settings -> About device -> Software info -> Build number - tap it 7 times to enable Developer options. Go back to Settings -> Developer options -> turn on USB debugging.
I tried everything on this thread but nothing worked. My problem: my computer was charging the device when I was connecting the cable on, so I assumed the cable was working, but not. After I swap the cable, adb devices worked. The cable was the issue.
I also had same problem, i tried to use all the possible solution posted on this thread, but i found out i had same problem as JohnnyFun explained, but as per HenrikB solution i could not find any settings option in my Samsung Galaxy S6 phone ( Android 6.0.1)
Since it was working sometimes for me (ie at work) and not other times (ie at home), I decided to try out different cables and different Android phones I had. And sure enough, some of the cables did not work (adb can't see phone) with any of the phones, but they still charged the phone and Android recognized that it was plugged in.
