For flamejobs the in action camera analysis, that got added i think in 2022, works pretty solid.
Also the internal C4D tracker often got better and faster results than PFtrack the last times needed. Mostly in bright studios with a lot of DoF and not the best placed tracking markers.

Anyone used SynthEyes with success? I have a real hard time figuring out how to track and import trackers correctly into max. Footage is tracked, I try to set up the coordinate system, import the script, so far the process seems right. Then it comes clear that 1) the trackers are not sitting as they should, and 2) the horizon is always skewed, making a HUGE mismatch between the 3d objects and the footage.

Ok so I solved the first obstacle, where the tracking gave me a very low FOV. I solved it with calculating distortion in SynthEyes and exporting to aftereffects, where I used the SynthEyes distortion plugin with the applied amount of distortion that SynthEyes calculated for me. Then I bounced the footage from AfterEffects and took it back into SynthEyes for a new tracking. Then it seems to be working better.

I tried to use Syntheyes several years ago and never could get anything good out of it so I switched to Boujou which is a dream to work with. I'm glad to see you've had success with it, maybe I should consider taking a look at it again.

Hello to the community, is there a method of using SynthEyes with Enscape video paths? Like export the tracking points from SynthEyes and using it as a base for the video path in Enscape, maybe someone has tried this before.

In general I really would like to see a more precise way to determine camera paths. In the past I made a spreadsheet to generate the coordinates for a perfect turntable path but this is still a hassle. The way the current coordinates work in the Enscape XLM is not very intuitive.

I`m I correct that I wil need canvas 360 to ingest the camera data from external tracking software into the scene? Or is there a way to do this with the standard VR edit point inside after effects. Searched the internet but find almost no useful info.

I have Syntheyes and it's really good for some things but the integration with AE can be a little difficult to manage. I have not used Syntheyes for tracking 360 footage so I'm not familiar with the workflow, but if their forums and help pages tell you that you need Canvas 360 then you probably do.

Hi Rick, I'm familiar with that workflow. But I'm not able to track in the afx 2019 spring version. I allready found some posts of people having succes with the 2018 version. However I realy want to look in more advanced tracking posibilitys for advanced 3d camera moves. Thats why i need ro know if i really need the canvas to ingest the camera solve into the 360 environment in afx.

A powerful, affordable 3D object and camera tracking application
First released two decades ago by computer vision and robotics researcher Dr. Russell Andersson, SynthEyes quickly became adopted in VFX pipelines for its combination of speed, accuracy and affordability.

Artists will work faster thanks to refined track and rotoscoping tools. New Linear and Constant keyframe options make stepped tracking easier with the ability to Skip or Step over frames while maintaining a proper track. If a track goes off-screen or behind another object, the new Extrapolate Track continues tracking based on previous frames.

Mocha Pro 2024 has significant under-the-hood updates to increase the speed and accuracy of tracks. These improvements include optimizations in Insert rendering (up to 15x faster), enhanced GPU tracking precision, and upgraded Python script performance.

Throughout this SynthEyes and Maya tutorial, we'll learn how to make use of one point tracking. When there is not enough detail in objects, tracking software has limitations. We'll begin with properly setting up our project in SynthEyes and after tracking a single point on our object we'll learn how to export our data into Maya. In Maya, we'll set up a hierarchy for our single tracked point. Using this hierarchy we can find a solution to some of the more complicated matchmoves in visual effects. By the end of this SynthEyes and Maya training, you will have learned an advanced object tracking technique which can be used for matchmoving. Software required: SynthEyes 2011, Maya 2013.

Accordingly, the legacy Fusion exporter now supports 3D planar trackers; primitive, imported, or tracker-built meshes; imported or extracted textures; multiple cameras; and lens distortion via image maps.

The new lens distortion feature should make it possible to reproduce the distortion patterns of any real-world lens without its properties having been coded explicitly in the software or a custom plugin.

SynthEyes offers complete control over the tracking process for challenging shots, including an efficient workflow for supervised trackers, combined automated/supervised tracking, offset tracking, incremental solving, rolling-shutter compensation, a hard and soft path locking system, distance constraints for low-perspective shots, and cross-camera constraints for stereo. A solver phase system lets you set up complex solving strategies with a visual node-based approach (not in Intro version). You can set up a coordinate system with tracker constraints, camera constraints, an automated ground-plane-finding tool, by aligning to a mesh, a line-based single-frame alignment system, manually, or with some cool phase techniques.

"Great customer service. The folks at Novedge were super helpful in navigating a somewhat complicated order including software upgrades and serial numbers in various stages of inactivity. They were friendly and helpful throughout the process.."

"Scott is the best. He reminds me about subscriptions dates, guides me in the correct direction for updates. He always responds promptly to me. He is literally the reason I continue to work with Novedge and will do so in the future."

The latest offering from Boris FX, Mocha Pro 2024, represents a significant leap in the realm of visual effects and post-production. By integrating the formidable 3D tracking capabilities of SynthEyes into its award-winning suite of tools, Mocha Pro 2024 is poised to revolutionize the industry.

This integration has culminated in a new version of the Camera Solve module that is powered by the core technology of SynthEyes. This synergy brings to the table an unprecedented speed in 3D tracking, facilitating the creation of matchmove composites, animations, and motion graphics with a newfound efficiency.

For artists who are accustomed to the power and precision of Mocha Pro's tracking and rotoscoping capabilities, the latest iteration brings a suite of enhancements that will dramatically speed up their workflow. These improvements are not just superficial; significant under-the-hood optimizations have been made to elevate the speed and accuracy of tracking operations.

One of the most exciting advancements in Mocha Pro 2024 is the addition of USD (Universal Scene Description) format support. This feature serves as a bridge to major 3D applications by allowing imports and exports in a format that is universally recognized by industry-standard software such as Foundry's Nuke, Blender, and Autodesk's Maya. This development promises a seamless integration process for VFX artists, making Mocha Pro 2024 a more versatile and indispensable asset in their toolkit.

Furthermore, the collaboration between Mocha Pro 2024 and Adobe After Effects has been deepened. Artists can now natively generate 3D cameras and null objects from within Mocha Pro, which can be directly utilized within After Effects' 3D environment. This greater integration heralds a more streamlined process where artists can leverage the full 3D capabilities of After Effects alongside the precision tracking and roto tools of Mocha Pro.For current customers of Mocha Pro who are on active subscriptions or upgrade & support plans, this update is available as a complimentary enhancement to their existing tools. This ensures that the most dedicated users are always provided with the latest and most efficient technology as part of their subscription.
