Hello all,

I tried to convert a text to a wav file with this commandline:

espeak -f test.txt -a 20 -s 250 -v pt-br -w test.wav

The file is correctly generated, however, the volume is very low.

The parameter responsible to adjust the volume is "-a". It is a range
between 0 and 20. But, even if when I specify 20, the maximum volume,
it's not enough to increase sufficiently.

In the settings, the output volume is higher than 40000. But it is not
the same volume used by Espeak.

If the problem was about MPlayer, I could adjust it in the
Applications tab. However, espeak is a commandline tool and I don't
know how to do the same.

Does someone convert text files to wav files with Espeak? Are the same
problems coming up? Is there some idea to solve it?

I thank you for any tip.

Regards,

Howdy,
The max volume is actually 200, so try -a 200.

Perfectly. I believed so much in the manual that I didn't imagine it
could be wrong.

Thank you!

I've almost never made wavs with espeak, but you can use more than one tool to increase volume.
E.g. sox can use the vol and/or gain options.
sox input.wav output.wav vol 3
will increase volume and warns when there is clipping going on which may not batter as long as it's not extreme for synth speech files.
You can also boost bass, treble, or if I remember right a given frequency range.
