OK, I purchased an American English voice, however, so-far only the other
British voice is working. How would we configure American English, instead?
Thanks in advance

If you correctly installed U.S. English or any other voice/variant voxin package you should see option for that voice in Orca's voice tab when you open
orca prefferences.
Are you not seeing the voice in orca prefs?
I've never had trouble selecting a voxin voice, but have not installed voxin in a couple of years.

Well, I would confess I know little about ORCA, some1 in our LUG has been
`helping. He says an American English directory is empty. Also, the files which
were in the dot tar of American English were just data, not an installer.sh
which was the British voice. And yes I did write, asking for asistance. As for a
previous comment of Rob White, if I were to un-install the synthesizer, I would
not have speech to work with-and-even if I wanted to edit or install from the
windows side, I cannot. Thanks so much in advance

I don't know about your earlier conversation, but uninstalling voxin would not remove espeak, so you would have speech to re-install voxin with and do
anything else for that matter.
There are two packages, one for UK english, and one for U.S. English, so you won't have files in the installer tarball for both languages.
I've not opened up a voxin tarball in years, but there was a lot there as I recall...lol
Am I understanding you correctly in that you bought both the UK English and U.S. English voxin packages?

Actually B, somehow when I purchased, they sent British, as I think there was
javascript, so I couldn't select from an option list in L Y N X. I wrote the
contact place, they were kind enough to send an American English.

Well, you should be able to have both installed as far as I know, but I'd open orca prefferences, switch to espeak u.s. english or which ever espeak
voice you find most usable for an emergency, and press apply and then OK.
Assuming the espeak voice is speaking for you then Uninstall the U.K. English package, and then install U.S. English one.
I'd just y to reinstall the U.S.English voxin package first though, i.e. you should be able to have both on the machine at the same time.
Once installed, check to see what you have in your english voice options for ibmtts, outloud, or whatever voxin voices show up as.
