Sorry if this is old news to everyone, but I finally got ChromeVox
working in Ubuntu.

First, Jason White pointed out to me that it won't work with Chromium.
The native client (NaCl) feature needs to be enabled, and this isn't the
case in Chromium available from Debian/Ubuntu.

I followed the instructions at
http://www.howopensource.com/2011/10/install-google-chrome-in-ubuntu-11-10-11-04-10-10-10-04/
and installed the stable version of Google Chrome in a virtual machine
running Ubuntu 12.04. After getting sighted help to install ChromeVox
and the Lois TTS,it all just started working.

I still have two issues to look into though. The first is that Lois's
speech is kind of garbled. Maybe this is related to the fact that I'm
running in a VM, but eSpeak is just fine.

The second is that the control+alt+arrow-keys jump me between
workspaces, so I can't use them to navigate around with ChromeVox.

See post on the Vinux facebook site as to chromebox working with Vinux
3.2 as well.
He said he needed to remap Vinux-keystrokes, but I think they were all
actually Orca keystrokes to avoid some conflicts, not the least of which
was insert as the Orca key...lol.
Anyway, any progress on this front is good news.
What I'd like to hear however is whether or not chrome/chromevox are now
at the point where they offer an alternative to Fireofx that can improve
browsing times, or is this still just a testbed for those with time and
or curiosity?
Thanks for posting.]
