My apologies for not responding directly to the thread in the usual
manner. I'm using my actual e-mail client instead of going online to the
forum and posting and I get this in digest mode.
Anyway, the question was posed on what a good bash scripting guide was.
I've been on something of quest for one myself and I thought I'd share the
results to avoid wheel reinvention so to speak. Online, there are a few
promising-looking guides on the linux documentation project's website:
If you have subscription to bookshare, however, there is some really good
stuff:
* Learning the bash shell
* The Bash Cookbook
* The bash pocket Reference
* Classic Shell Scripting (technically not bash but pretty interesting
loking table of contents)
There's more but this should be enough to set you on the right track.
Myself, I'm working my way through Learning the Bash Shell. I worked my
way through another book first though just to get a nice grounding: The
Linux Cookbook. That was a very interesting book. I learned a ton of
stuff on there.
