Dear team,

I don’t use Vinux for my daily tasks, but I tried the last version where
I noticed we can use Pico TTS.

I would like to use Pico TTS on Debian 8 but I saw the speech-dispatcher
module was not on Debian.

I tried to install the package speech-dispatcher-pico from Vinux on my
Debian, but it seems to meet to much dependencies problem like
speech-dispatcher-audio-plugin. The version of speech-dispatcher on
Debian 8 is 0.8-7.

Do you have a solution to deploy the package on Debian or is it easy to
compile a speech-dispatcher module ?

Thanks for your help.

Regards,

Ah yes, yet again dependency hassles on Debian...lol
I like Debian a lot, but mostly as a server OS, just can't relate to spending the hours to try and meet deps that it seems like I'd have to spend to have
a serious Debian GUI desktop. I don't need the latest of everything, but when I do I have certainlyl had my share of troubles on Debian.
I've never tried to compile a an SD module, maybe someone else knows about this. I just saw this msg for the first time while cleaning out my inbox a bit,
i.e. hopefully this has slipped under other ppl's radar as well.
In general I've found pico a bit unstable even on Vinux, and it did not run for me on Arch, will try again one of these days.

The easiest solution is to rebuild Speech Dispatcher on Debian with the pico TTS development package installed, I think its libpicotts-dev or something like that.

Maybe I{ll try here in a bit, thanks.
Any idea why neither firefox, thunderbird or their unbranded versions speak for me on Debian?
Everything else in my my graphical environment speaks normally.
