Volks,
I have been chatting recently with Gilbert Sy Chan. Old-timers aboard this group will remember Gilbert, who lives near Manila, Philippines. He operates a bicycle shop and also dabbles in motorcycles and scooters. He no longer drives any VW – he reports that they are becoming very expensive to maintain in the Manila area – but fondly recalls this group, remembers many of you old-timers, and asked that I pass along his regards.
Gilbert may be remembered by some for having designed and printed the white ( @ ) oval sign for the rears of our VWs. It was a great emblem for an online email group.

I have been on this list since 1998 I think, but never got to know Gibert. It was really great back then with Bill May, zundfolge, marc vellat, NQ and others sending what seemed to be dozens of emails each day!!
Anyone keep up with Marc? Very knowledgeable guy

I still have it. Its near the end of a 7 year restoration/ customization. Hoping to fire up its new 1914 over the winter and have it out for next season. I have a lot of the work posted on facebook or over on kustomcoachwerk.
