Green, Argetsinger to Give First Talk for

50th Anniversary Celebration

WATKINS GLEN, NY – Racing historian Bill Green and motorsports author Michael Argetsinger will team up Saturday, Feb. 26, for the first Center Conversations of 2011, the year in which the International Motor Racing Research Center is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the inaugural Formula One race at Watkins Glen.

Green and Argetsinger will set the stage for Formula One racing with a look at Formula Libre, the precursor races. They will then focus on Oct. 8, 1961, the date of the first Formula One race at Watkins Glen.

Their informative talk will use film and slides to illustrate those memorable race days.

The talk will be at 1 p.m. at the Racing Research Center at 610 S. Decatur St., Watkins Glen. The talk is free, and all are welcome.

Green is the race historian for both the Racing Research Center and Watkins Glen International. His knowledge of racing at Watkins Glen is respected worldwide.

Argetsinger is an award-winning author, currently working on a book about the Watkins Glen Formula One story, presented through color and black and white photographs with detailed captions and connecting narrative.

**  A SPECIAL INVITATION TO ALL OF OUR FRIENDS: Mark Steigerwald has announced that he will be leaving the Center staff March 1. Following the talk by Bill and Michael, we will have a special reception to thank Mark for his years of dedication to the Center and for being a key reason for its success. We hope you can join us!!
