Hello Economy Run drivers,

 

I am very pleased to announce that we have set the date for Economy Run III. The date is August 23rd and we will be having our A.M.E.C. summer picnic immediately following the event. All Economy run participants are invited to join us for awards and a picnic lunch at Northampton Beach Campground located on Housmann Street, in Mayfield, [it's actually closer to Northville] NY. Their website is here:

http://tinyurl.com/muuuzc. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the map links. The picnic pavilion and beach are right on the shore of beautiful Sacandaga lake. Hamburgers, hot dogs, and soda will be served.

 

Entry fee for the EconomyRun III will remain at $10 per car and there is an $8 gate charge per carload to enter the park. You are all invited to enjoy a complimentary lunch on A.M.E.C. once in the park.

 

Due to the location of Northampton Beach Campground this year's event has been adjusted to approx. 94 miles in total distance, as we will be going right by the lake during our run down the mountain on Route 30 south. There is no sense in having everyone go all the way back to Fonda [where we started] and then turn them all around and go all the way back up Route 30 north [48 miles round trip] to Northamptom Beach Campground.

 

Plans are being made to finish the event at the Citgo [at 746 NY-30, in Northville]. They are less than a mile from Northampton Beach Campground and their lot is plenty big. I just have to check with them and make sure they will allow us to finish our event there. Further details are forthcoming, but I wanted you all to get the date on your calendars.

 

Please forward this message to any and all of your fellow car enthusiast friends. Historic cars [pre '75] are not only allowed, they are encouraged. There will be a separate award for best Historic car this year. This will be a beautiful drive through the southern Adirondack Mountains for your classic car. If saving gas is not your thing, consider this a fun road rally. Bring out the vintage tin!

Casey,

Thanks for spreading the word. I am hoping to attract more classic
cars for this year's event. If you're an owner of a foreign and
American compact car, this is a great way to enjoy them instead of
parking them on a show field and sitting around all day. Remember
every car has it's purpose: muscle cars have drag strips, sports cars
have road courses, but what do economy cars have? A.M.E.C. Economy Run
events that's what!

Hi Mike and Casey,
I cleared my calendar and will participate in my 1958 Saab 93B.
The completely stock 750cc three cylinder two stroke should do very well.
I'll down jet the carb and replace my bias ply's with radials, that
combined with the original three speed "free wheel" transmission will kick
MPG butt.... I hope!
Please add me to the list and I'll see if I can get some other vintage Saabs
to attend.

Hey all, I thought I’d use this as an excuse to spread the word that my 544 Volvo is for sale for real this time. 1959 544 B-16, incredibly funky multi hued patina on what’s a basically very solid car. Front end just rebuilt including new king pins and trunions, new brakes all around including all cylinders, carbs rebuilt, new tires (plus a set of studded snows for the Ice). 4:10 limited slip. New bearings and synchros in trans. Too much more to list here. Couple of minor glitches like odo not working, and some panel lights out, etc, but runs and drives great, real attention getter. Made the trip from Philadelphia to Lake George for the ice races, ran the ice and got home fine. New PA state inspection! Featured in Hemmings Sports and Exotics (January, 2008) and Rolling, also in Classic Motorsport. Some spares including B-18 engine and trans. Asking $3200.
