Derick,
As discussed earlier, please see below info relevant to Training Centre in Cape Town. I am planning on coming to Cape Town next week. I would like to sit down with the parents and swimmers to just listen and try to alleviate the current levels of insecurity that I am sure the training centre swimmers must be feeling. I will confirm with you tomorrow when I will be in town. The wellbeing of the swimmers is our primary concern.
In order for us to ensure our mail is duly received, please confirm via a read receipt or via return mail confirming receipt of this mail.
Kind regards,

MEDIA STATEMENT
Karoly’s coaching contribution has set a platform for a rosy swimming future in SA
12 November 2009
For immediate release
Karoly von Toros’ significant contribution during his four-year stint as head coach at Swimming SA’s Centre of Excellence Programme at the University of the Western Cape, has played a pivotal role towards the creation of a rosy future for aquatics in SA.
Von Toros left SA on Monday to take up an appointment as head coach of the Algerian swimming team, with his former Centre of Excellence Programme assistant Cedric Finch set to head up the day-to-day training activities at the Bellville tertiary venue through to April next year.
During his term as head coach at the Centre of Excellence Programme, Von Toros has had a positive impact on the performances achieved by the likes of Chanelle van Wyk, Wendy Trott, Sebastien Rousseau and Zaahir Gamiet.
Finch, who is currently with the SA swim team on the European leg of the FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup, had been working in association with Von Toros with the past three years at the Centre of Excellence Programme and will be responsible for ensuring a smooth continuation of the training programme through to key events in the new year.
The 20 athletes who train at the Centre of Excellence Programme will be aiming to deliver qualifying performances at the Telkom Level 03 Championships (to stand a chance of being selected to represent SA at the Youth Olympics in Singapore in August) and at the Telkom SA National Aquatic Championships (in a bid to make the SA team to compete at the Commonwealth Games in India in October).
“We wish Von Toros the best for the future and will miss his experience and expertise. Our focus as a national federation is to ensure the uninterrupted continuation of the swimmers training programme and Finch is quite capable to continue in the interim,” said Swimming SA CEO Shaun Adriaanse.
“We are quite certain and will ensure that the programme at UWC will continue building on the successful results achieved in consultation with our stakeholders, the University of the Western Cape, Western Cape Academy of Sports and Western Province Aquatics.”
Adriaanse added: “Swimming SA have been reviewing our High Performance Programme as part of our long term strategy and have identified closer relations with tertiary institutions as critical to the long term sustained performance improvement of our swimming programme. Within this context we have been working closely with identified tertiary institutions, including the University of the Western Cape to establish Centre of Excellence Programmes.”
“The repositioning of our relationships with tertiary’s include endeavours to align our Senior Elite Coaches with the universities where possible. We have been in the process of concluding this with the University of the Western Cape, when we were informed of Mr. Toros appointment in Algeria.”
