Hello everyone,
Thank you for those who came out and helped water last week. We began the installation of the irrigation system. The final pieces (hoses and fittings) will be arriving on Friday and will be installed on Saturday. That means we will need help watering the next few days. Can anyone please help water tomorrow (Wed) and Friday? Please sign up using the community care calendar on the
www.vineyardcommunitygarden.com website.
I've set up a weeding schedule! The weeds (mostly grass) are really starting to come up and we need to get on top of them before they take over the garden. The weeding is really where the rubber is going to hit the road. The watering could be done by a few of us, but the weeding is going to need to be a real community effort. Kay Tidmore and Marcia Bell had a great idea about the weeding. They suggested that we do it in groups of two so as to have someone else there to get to know and someone with whom to talk. We can build community by pulling weeds together!
Along these lines, I've split the garden into 4 sections and every day there will be a section of the garden needing weeded. This is a great opportunity to invite friends or neighbors to begin to participate in the garden! Please use the calendar interface found on the website (
http://www.vineyardcommunitygarden.com/) to sign up for weeding. Instructions for the task can be found on the calendar as well. Sign up either with someone you don't know or as a pair!
We will also be offering various classes starting in the next few weeks also to supplement the garden. So far, we're planning on having a Gardening 101 class and a Gardening for kids class. Sunday after church services, we will be having a table at the church where people can sign up also.
I'm excited for the amount of food that we are growing right now and the impact that can have for our community!
Please join us in joining with God to make this garden successful! If you have any ideas, questions or comments, please email me at

We still need to find someone who can make benches... does anyone know anyone handy like that who would be willing to make some?
God Bless you,
Tim Perkins
