Hey everyone,
I wanted to give you all an update on the status of the garden. Almost all of the starter plants have new green growth on them, some of the tomato plants are blooming with flowers and every single plot which had seeds planted now has little sprouts of different plants. I've had the opportunity to stop by every day and see the progress, and it has been absolutely amazing. I started watering yesterday morning and there were a few sprouts... when I came back in the late afternoon and walked the rows, the sprouts had grown significantly and many more had appeared! It's amazing how quickly they are growing (As you can tell, this is my garden experience)!
I was going to take some pictures for your enjoyment, but then I figured that you will have to come out and water in order to see the progress =P.
We need help watering. So far the task has been taken care of by a couple of us, but it's an hour every day! Could someone please commit to watering on Wednesday or Friday? We are planning to have the irrigation system installed this weekend. Please sign up on the calendar website (Link can be found at
http://www.vineyardcommunitygarden.com/).
Along with the new growth of what we planted is new growth of what we didn't plant... weeds. We will be putting together a schedule for weed pulling and we definitely need help. Could you please consider serving in this way. I have confidence that God is doing something with this garden and that it is going to bless others. We're still figuring out what that looks like, but at any rate we need people who are willing to serve to make this happen. Serving is a sacrifice and is not always the easiest path. Jesus laid his life down for us that we might have life. Please consider laying a bit of your life down to serve the community and share the kingdom of God with them. Some of you have to say "no" to serving in this way right now, and I hope you have the peace and wisdom to do that. I just ask each of you to please consider, before God, serving in the community garden. We'll continue to send out information on how to get involved.
Thanks and God bless you and your families.
In Him,
Tim Perkins
