We (Greg and I) have 10 cases of the 2015 Zin and 6 cases of the 2014 SvB in our wine keller. I'm planning to bottle the '16 Zin the next month or so and would love to have more space to store it.
Betty and I and son are in process of tasting both and will report:
'15 ZIN: very light in color, almost Pinot Noir-ish; taste is good, nothing off. The wine is pretty high in alcohol as the chem report of December, 2015 (soon after fermentation stopped) showed a 15.9% alcohol content. The wine works better when decanted and given time to "breathe"
'14 SvB: not bad; it's drinkable but I don't know about serving it at a dinner party. It does make a good Sangria. My son who does catering has used this wine for several catering parties, mixing it with fruit--lighter colored fruits (apples, peaches, etc)-- and has had rave reviews.
Anyway, I know there are wine group folks who have outstanding bills for reimbursement--for bottles, grapes, grape picking, chemicals, etc.. It would be great for those who have put out funds to get some return. I know that I'm pretty well flush until the 2016 vintage but there are others who have outstanding deficits.
I think $40 per case for the Zin (75 for two cases) and $25 for the SvB, $40 for two. That comes to $3 plus for a bottle of Zin and $2 or so for the SvB.
Also, Greg has cases of the '15 SvB at his house and Dave has a few different varietals on hand at his place (Barbera and Petit?).
I can bring cases back to the Bay Area in the next few weeks as I'll be back and forth between Amador and Oakland.
