I am a new Linux user running Xubuntu 14.04 and Thunderbird 31.7.0 with the Muttator 1.2 extension.  I currently have Thunderbird configured with my work Exchange account along with my personal Gmail account.  I run into the following situation when trying to forward a message I received with my Exchange account:
1 - I press "F" to forward a message.
2 - A new message window opens with the cursor in the "To:" field.
3 - While the green INSERT mode icon is present in the lower left of the window, I enter 4 to 5 emails address to which I'd like to forward the message
4 - I press <Tab> to take me to the "Subject:" field and then press <Tab> again to take me to the message body.
5 - At this point, I now see the green COMPOSE mode icon in the lower left of the window
6 - I want to type something like "That is great news!" but I can only type out "Tha", all while still being in COMPOSE mode.  If I try to keep typing other letters, the cursor takes me back to the "Subject:" field which is then deleted.

My sense is that I should be in the INSERT mode when typing in the message body but can't figure out how to make that happen.

Any ideas or suggestions for a new Muttator user?

Thanks
Samir

That seems like a bug, but Muttator is unfortunately very badly maintained currently :(

That's too bad as I really enjoy using it!

Well, then you are the first motivated maintainer :)

Honestly, we also love(d) muttator, and I am sure that some of the devs even use it today, but people still needing/wanting a desktop mail client really need to step up, and write patches, as otherwise most software bitrots after some time :(

Hi Sameer,

If your question is how to get to the insert mode from compose mode, then you can press 'i' to get there. There are a couple of other mappings in compose mode that might be helpful. Like 'e' lets you edit in an external editor. But the problem with that is that you would have to edit in html format (which means including line breaks and <p> tags). Anyway, you can checkout this outdated list of mappings to see what works for you.

Cheers
