Hey guys, Eric here.

It seems the latest update of firefox changed some things with vimperator.

It's all over the place. Key binding 'f' no longer highlights available links. I can't enter the colon operator now, I just get this stupid magnifying glass looking picture.

Idk, this might be because of firefox but it sure is annoying. Best of luck!

Hi Eric,

indeed from FF 57 Vimperator doesn't work at all. Mozilla underwent very major changes in FF api, which they announced months or years ago. It's both too radical for Vimperator to follow and too limiting, some things are not possible any more (working in Addons page, the colon operator,…).
The developers are in relation wih Mozilla to improve those limitations, but in the meantime, we can either use an older FF (FF ESR, Iceweasel,…), try another addon (Vimium-ff is ok) or another browser (some like Qutebrowser for its minimalism).

Per kind post from Joe Petree, and following links, I found the bad news:

Vimperator will stop working in up-to-date copies of Firefox with the release of Firefox 57 on November 14th due to a large breaking change in how extensions and add-ons are written (#705).

The "readme" is at https://github.com/vimperator/vimperator-labs/blob/master/README.md
Stating alternatives, like "sticking with old Firefox", or switching from Firefox to a fork of it which is separately maintained, etc.

RIP Vimperator. Time to unsubscribe to this list, I guess.
