Is it possible to list the browsing history of the current tab using
Vimperator so I can select one to go back to?

I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but I would try :jumps
It lists all the "steps" taken in the current tab. The red arrow show where you are and below are the "forward" pages as it were, and above the "back" pages.
I map it to Shift-J by :map <S-j> :jumps<CR>

But you can't navigate that list, can you? Pressing Tab or Arrows or corresponding numbers doesn't seem to work for me for some reason...

No it's Vimperator weirdness:
press ;o (literally press ";" then "o") and you willl then be able to navigate like in a webpage (following hints) or by pressing TAB:
