Hi all...

I would desperately love to have Thunderbird with vim-like keybindings.

Alas, Muttator does not even begin to work with my current version of Thunderbird (31.3.0) and it appears nothing has been done with it for over a year (and not much activity even before that).

So... is anyone doing any active work on Muttator? And does anyone know the latest version of Thunderbird that Muttator is compatible with?

Yeah to be honest, most developers (at least me) don't use Thunderbird anymore (I am just so happy with the gmail web interface - which even has Vim key shortcuts!).

It probably wouldn't be too much work to get it going again, but it certainly needs someone who actually uses it.

Hello Arley. I'm just commenting to let you know that you are not
alone in lamenting the loss of Muttator. I do not understand how most
people prefer the Gmail web interface, but then again I'm sure that
most people don't understand how we love VIM.

Hi all,
I'll point to the lack of docs that prevents people like me from particpating. I tried once to hack on vimperator, with muttator in mind, but as I'm not very familiar with development of big js projects and the mozilla layer, it was quite difficult to put the pieces together (even if the code looks clear).
So why not fill in the wiki ? https://github.com/vimperator/vimperator-labs/wiki
If you want a starting point let's take my example :) I wanted to add a function to list all the open tabs. What's the architecture of vimperator ? What do the main modules do ?

@Dotan: The gmail web interface supports most vim commands (like gi to "goto inbox"), and is very keyboard friendly overall. Actually I even think they modelled the shortcuts after Muttator with "c" for compose, etc. :)

Thank you Martin. In fact, I use the Gmail web interface for my
mailing-list mail at this address. However, it is far from adequate
for use in my personal and business mail where I heavily move mail
between folders (not labels) and need to see both the message pane and
the list pane.

I in no way imply that you've defaulted on Muttator! Quite the
opposite, I know that it was a scratch for your own itch and the code
remains for those who need it to maintain it. I say thank you to you
for your work on Muttator in the past, separate from the big thank you
that you deserve for your work on Vimperator.

Thank you!

Hi Martin,

could you please put a comment on the official website letting others know that Muttator is not maintained anymore?

Thanks,
martin
