Hi everyone,

I'm a previous org-mode user, but very new to VimOrganizer.  It appears that tag inheritance is not working on my setup.  Both in subheadings and with respect to FILETAGS.  This basically makes FILETAGS meaningless.  Are there plans to support this?

Thanks

Jacob -- You're right that tag inheritance (which would include
FILETAGS) is not supported in VimOrganizer. CATEGORIES may or may not
work as partial replacement for use of filetags,

There are no current plans to add it; you're first person to ask about it.

I did at one point (couple years ago, I think) have the plumbing in
the search code to support tag inheritance, but never implemented
fully and didn't expose to users.

I'll put it on list of requested items and take a look at it at some
point when I devote significant block of time to VimOrganizer. But
you should be aware that VimOrganizer is mostly a one man project and
that I haven't been putting much time into it. It's not a big vibrant
project like Org-mode is.

Not sure why you are now using VimOrganizer after having been Org-mode
user. If you haven't checked out the EVIL vim emulator in Emacs it's
worth a look, better than previous Viper/Vimpulse. To use Org-mode
comfortably in vim-like way with EVIL you need to create vim-like
keybindings for major Org-mode functions you use, I have posted with
info on this in Org-mode's newsgroup, see thread at:

Hi Herb,

Thanks for the reply.  I used org-mode years ago but am a full vim user these days.  Thanks for the suggestion about EVIL.  It's not perfect but it definitely makes org-mode in emacs much more pleasant.

Thank you,
Jacob

I would also vote for tag inheritance as a feature I would like to have in VimOrganizer.

Great work on this, by the way, Herbert. thanks a lot!
