Hey just really started using command line recently and am trying to
build this from git. When I typed in "./configure", i got this
following message:

configure:1836: checking whether make sets $(MAKE)
configure:1861: result: no
configure:1915: checking for gcc
configure:1945: result: no
configure:2012: checking for cc
configure:2059: result: no
configure:2115: checking for cl.exe
configure:2145: result: no
configure:2174: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH

I'm assuming it's looking for some packages there. if someone can
just point me in the right direction on how to fix this, that would be
much appreciated

thanks

You need to install XCode.  It's available on the second dvd of your operating system, or for download from apple.com.  Look out though, it's a pretty large download.

Thanks Kyle. For 10.6 (snow leopard) there's only one dvd and XCode
is in a "utilities" folder I believe.
