eddaso created an issue (vim/vim#20636)

Steps to reproduce

open vim in home directory
:Explore
navigate into vimfiles
try renaming any file by pressing 'R'
the prompt to rename the file will show the pathname mangled i.e. the path separator will be missing.
depending on the situation, multiple path sepators can be missing from the pathname.

Expected behaviour

The prompt to rename a file should show the filename without the path sepator(s) missing.

Version of Vim

9.2.0530+

Environment

Windows 11
vim and gvim
