[vim/vim] netrw rendering and directory history are affected when clipboard/register issue is present (Issue #18989)

satorunooshie created an issue (vim/vim#18989)

Steps to reproduce

netrw rendering

  • netrw directory rendering depends on the current clipboard contents

  • netrw headers and layout are corrupted

Clipboard contents

  • After reopening netrw, the system clipboard is overwritten with netrw-related data, which includes netrw directory history entries.

You can reproduce with just vim -N .

Expected behaviour

netrw directory view renders correctly

netrw internal state is not copied to the OS clipboard

Environment

OS: macOS 15.6.1(24G90)
$TERM: xterm-256color
