Neovim merged this feature in April 2025
TL;DR
The prompt-buffer allows line breaks via <S-CR> and direct commit via <CR>. allowing 'undo', 'redo', 'dd' or 'cc' to cut a line, 'oO' to a new line, and 'pP' put register text. makes prompt-buffer more 'vim' and very useful, allowing many repls and backend software to interact more uniformly in Vim, such as debug, ghci, and ai chat.
