Patch 8.0.518 issue: encodings=utf-8 breaking foldmethod=manual display

Hi Vim Developers

I recently updated my vim to version 8.0.518

I have foldmethod=marker set by default.

I use default vimrc share/vim/vim80/vimrc_example.vim

If I dont have set encoding=utf-8 http://i.imgur.com/B8tsoFg.png is how a folded file looks.

if i have set encoding=utf-8 http://i.imgur.com/Ujlfr6S.png is how it looks.

the ---------------------- are replaced by some text which depends on where my cursor is.

Anyone else aware of this issue?

Hi justrajdeep!

Can you check patch 8.0.517? 518 fixed a particular problem with
multibyte chars for the foldtext output. However, I am not sure, how
this could cause this problem.

Looks like 8.0.0518 fixed it for multi-byte characters and broke it for
others. I'll make a fix.

Please check v8.0.524 I think it fixed the issue already.

Since 8.0.524 I am unable to close any folds with fold markers.
8.0.521 doesn't have this problem with exactly the same setup.

I am able to close folds using za, zM and :foldclose in version 8.0.524

Indeed. The problem was caused by me fiddling with options in order to workaround the aforementioned issue in 8.0.0518.
