lilydjwg created an issue (vim/vim#20344)

Steps to reproduce

  1. vim scp://_gateway/a.txt
  2. netrw refuses to do it: Rejecting invalid hostname: <_gateway>

Expected behaviour

Hostnames with underscore are accepted. ssh / ping / rsync / adb / mpv / etc accept them, and systemd is actively using them (e.g. _gateway is defined by systemd).

I named my hosts with an underscore because programs (e.g. Vim) generally take "-" as a word separator but not "_".

Version of Vim

9.2.541

Environment

Arch Linux, GNOME Terminal.
