Steps to reproduce

Happens to block characters:

popup window open:

image.png (view on web)

Ctrl-l or :redraw remove it.

Happens to most of the modern fonts (jetbrains mono, cascadia mono, ibm plex mono, iosevka) and older one too (fira mono/code, hack) both on debian 12 and windows gvim.

Interestingly, with Consolas this doesn't happen.

Expected behaviour

Properly clear screen after popup closure.

Version of Vim

9.1.608

Environment

gui vim, debian 12 or windows 11

Looks like it only happens if there is no text under popup for that characters.

Oh, I have popup highlight set to None. Setting it to Normal or any other existing highlight group "fixes" it.

Closing.

Anyways, I can live with it.
