Tried DOSBOX running DOS OrCAD and PCAD in Windows 7 using SVGA_S3 graphics emulation. Colors work fine in XP and 2000, but not in Windows 7. Tried on two different machines with a variety of graphics cards. I'm convinced it's not the hardware -- it's either DOSBOX or Windows 7. Anyone seen similar results?

P-CAD was the brand name of Personal CAD Systems, Inc., a California-based manufacturer of electronic design automation software. It manufactured a CAD software available for personal computers. The company was divested into ACCEL Technologies, which was purchased by Altium in 2000. The last release of the software was in 2006, before it was retired in favor of the Altium Designer product.

P-CAD's flagship products included schematic capture, logic simulation and PCB layout. Its single biggest customer was Texas Instruments. In 1989, P-CAD was acquired by Cadam, which was a subsidiary of Lockheed,[2] but was in the process of being sold to IBM.[3] At the time of acquisition, P-CAD had an installed base of over 100,000 end users, a record at that time. A few years later, the P-CAD group was divested by selling to ACCEL Technologies, an EDA software corporation from San Diego, California, which was acquired by Protel International Pty Ltd (now Altium) in 2000. The P-CAD product included schematic capture, component library management, PCB layout and routing, parametric constraint solver and auto-routing capability.

All I have for a PC now is an HP6000 Omnibook laptop (we're living off-grid in a cabin in the mountains now); running windows2000. I've downloaded and installed DosBox, and was pleased at how smoothly it went. And PSAVE -looks- like it's running fine. And PCAD -starts- fine.

Anyway, I thought there might be a conflict between the mouse usage in windows being on COM-1, and the PSAVE/PCAD trying to use COM1 (although I never had problems in that regard on native DOS), so I changed PCAD's config to look for dongle on COM2. No difference.

I looked through psave in an editor and saw the list of error msgs. psave is running without displaying any error msgs; so I'm assuming that it's finding the pcaddrv.sys and ibmpc.drv files ok....and likely writing the changed version back OK.

Appreciate you taking a look at this pcad/psave thing. I could probably post the pcad exe itself...I think it's only 300-400K, if I remember right. I'd have to try a new dir with only the EXE, and see what else it yells for, if anything.

I have DOS image viewers on my Windows ME computer, but they can't recognize any screen resolution beyond 800x600 High Color. When I'm running Windows my graphics display is set to 1024x768 True Color. But when I run a dos prompt under windows, and use DOS programs, they don't detect higher resolutions.

P-CAD is a CAD (Computer Aided Design) program for Printed Circuit Board design. The P-CAD 2006 freeware viewer is for viewing PCB files. It works with P-CAD Schematic and PCB file versions from PCAD 2000 to PCAD 2006. The program can also open ACCEL EDA V15 Schematic and PCB files.

Optionally, PCAD 2000 also provides an explanation of the significance and clinical implications of the derived scores, a summary of the strengths and limitations of this content analysis method, and possible clinical diagnostic classifications (derived from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition (DSM-IV), developed by the American Psychiatric Association) that the user might consider.

In his 2000 article, "Popular Culture on the Golden Shore," Gary Kurtz indicated that architect Prosper Huerne could have 'possibly designed" the El Dorado Saloon #2. (See Gary Kurtz, "Popular Culture on the Golden Shore," California History, vol. 79, no. 2, Summer 2000, p. 285.)

The first El Dorado Hotel was a three-story, wood-frame building, while the second appears to have been constructed of more fire-resistant brick. It stood four stories tall, with four openings on each level. The first floor facing Portsmouth Square had three French doors to admit customers, with a fourth door to the right to admit guests to upper stories. Each of the three upper floors had four double-hung windows flanked by shutters. The El Dorado Saloon #2 had a flat roof and stood next door to the grand, Neo-Classical Jenny Lind Theatre, also constructed with a fire-resistant exterior cladding, in this case, cut stone.

Grayson and company were strong believers in Microsoft technology and Alibre was one of the first applications to support Windows 2000. In fact, Bill Gates used it as a demonstration tool for the Windows 2000 launch.

The separation of the browser-based client from the design and data management servers allowed the client to run locally while the design and data management services could be either local or remote. By October 2000, Alibre had changed its business model and was providing the modeler as a free 18MB download and charging for the collaboration services it was providing on a subscription basis. About the same time it released Alibre Design 2.0 which addressed some of the performance issues.

In 2000 Ashlar moved its operations to Austin, Texas and new versions of the Vellum software were periodically released for both the Macintosh and Windows platforms. Robert Bou became president and then in early 2005, the company was acquired by Vellum Investment Partners which consisted of Bou and his wife Julie. This was followed by the opening of a software development office in Kiev, Ukraine.

Schad was replaced as CEO in March 2002 by William Gascoigne who had been vice president of worldwide marketing at Applicon and more recently executive vice president of worldwide operations at SDRC. Hansjoerg Pleggemars, who joined the company in 2000 as CFO was appointed COO in July 2006. At the same time, ownership of the company changed once again when HBK Investments L.P., a large U.S.-based hedge fund, acquired CoCreate.

The deal with Dassault closed in November 2000. Dassault retained the Spatial name and the remainder of the company was renamed PlanetCAD with Bruce Morgan as CEO. A key part of the new PlanetCAD was software obtained when Spatial acquired Prescient Technologies in July 2000. Prescient, formerly a division of Stone & Webster, was the developer of software that could be used to verify the integrity of mechanical models. This software was marketed by PlanetCAD as Prescient QA.

PlanetCAD struggled from the start. The company attempted to market a number of on-line services including model quality assurance (also sold as stand-alone software), CAD data translation and healing and rapid prototype cost estimating without much success. Morgan left the company in late 2000 and was replaced by Jim Bracking, who had headed several other high tech companies but none in the engineering software field. In 2001 PlanetCAD had revenues of $1.8 million and lost $12.4 million. Sowar left the company in October 2001 and in January 2002 Bracking was replaced as CEO by David Hushbeck. Sowar subsequently started another company focused on geometry creation called FreeDesign.

In September 1999, Costello personally took over worldwide sales replacing Cuneo. The company began selling its software on the Web at this point. A month later the company launched thinkdesign 4.0 with improved drafting and part library capabilities. During the second half of 1999 the company signed up over 3,000 thinkdesign subscribers. In March 2000 the company announced that it had closed a third round of financing for $20 million. This was on top of the $18.5 million it had raised in 1988, shortly after Costello joined the company.

This depends on the font. The opened drawing makes use of AutoCAD fonts. Anyone in possession of a regular AutoCAD license can also use the fonts supplied with AutoCAD in the progeCAD program along with the numerous fonts already available in progeCAD. Just open the Tools > Options menu and access the Path/File tab > Support paths sub-menu. Double click Fonts and add the fonts installation path. For ex.: C:\Program Files\AutoCAD R14\Fonts. For the 2000 version of AutoCAD the simplex font can be found in Support directory. You can add this path too (For ex.: C:\AutoCAD LT 2000\Fonts;C:\AutoCAD LT 2000\Support) or copy this font to the folder Fonts of AutoCAD 2000. This guarantees a perfect display of any project using the simplex.shx font.

Anyone who owns a regular AutoCAD license can use, besides the numerous fonts available with progeCAD, also the fonts supplied with AutoCAD.
To do this, open the Tools menu, under Options in Path/File, Support paths sub-menu, in Fonts add the fonts' installation path. For ex.: C:\Program Files\AutoCAD R14\Fonts. For the 2000 version of AutoCAD the simplex font can be found Support directory. You can add this path too (For ex.: C:\AutoCAD LT 2000\Fonts;C:\AutoCAD LT 2000\Support) or copy this font to the folder Fonts of AutoCAD 2000. This guarantees a perfect display of any project using the simplex.shx font.
If when progeCAD was installed on your PC an AutoCAD installation is already present, the font path will be automatically added to the standard ones.
The fonts used for the drawing's text depend on the text's style.
With progeCAD it is possible to specify the font to be used in place of other fonts.
Sometimes it may be necessary to use only some types of font for a drawing, or to convert the fonts used into different fonts.
To this purpose the font mapping tables can be used.
If for example drawings are shared with other AutoCAD users, a font mapping table can be used in order to specify the alternative font progeCAD must use for the text originally created in a different font.
The font mapping table (FMP) is an ASCII file containing a font mapping for each line.
Each line contains the basic name of the font file (without the path) followed by a semicolon (;) and the name of the alternative font file with the relative extension (for example .shx or .ttf).
It is for example possible to type the following string in a font mapping table in order to specify that the romanc.shx font file must be substituted by the IC-romans.shx font file.
romanc.shx;IC-romans.shx
progeCAD comes with a default font mapping table included in the file ICAD.FMP, which is stored in the progeCAD folder.
This file can be modified with any ASCII text editor. It is also possible to specify a different table file in the Options dialogue box or by means of the FONTMAP system variable.
How to specify a font mapping table
1 From the Tools menu choose Options.
2 In the Paths/File list
3 Insert the mapping file name (.fmp) in the 'Font Identification' box
progeCAD's original setting uses icad.fmp; if no substitution of font is needed, delete or rename the ICAD.FMP file.
Also remember that...
Is it possible to use AutoCAD's fonts (the .SHX files) with progeCAD?
Yes,progeCAD is compatible with AutoCAD fonts file .shx.
To do this, open the "Options" menu and select the "File Paths" tab; then add the fonts' installation path under "fonts".
For ex: C:\Program Files\AutoCAD R14\fonts;c:\Program Files\AutoCAD R14\support
If when progeCAD was installed on your PC an AutoCAD installation is already present, the font path will be automatically added to the standard ones.
If you have original AutoCAD Fonts and want to avoid font substitution of standard ones (Ex. ROMANS.SHX SIMPLEX.SHX)
You also must open the font mapping file, icad.fmp and either delete or comment out the line that makes a font substitution for your AutoCAD font.
For example, suppose you have simplex.shx located at C:\ACADFONT and you click on Tools on the menu bar and then Options to identify C:\ACADFONT as an alternate font directory. But when you open a drawing that uses simplex.shx, the program continues to substitute ic-simplex.shx.
The solution is to open icad.fmp with a text editing program and either delete the line simplex;ic-simplex.shx or comment it out so that it reads:
;simplex;ic-simplex.shx
Then the next time you launch the program it will no longer substitute ic-simplex.shx for simplex.shx.
