The Philosophy Club meets Friday afternoons at Lake Miona Recreation Center in The Villages, FL.  Meetings start promptly at 4:00PM and end at 5:30PM. Presenters usually speak for 25 to 45 minutes, followed by a Discussion Period where the Leader and Audience Members ask Questions and express their Opinions, and the Presenter replies.

COMING ATTRACTIONS:

Friday,      5/23        Bob Altobello         "Oppenheimer - The Bhagavad Gita"
We will explore the ethical ideals presented in The Bhagavad Gita and how those ideals animate much of the moral conflict with which Oppenheimer struggles throughout the entire Manhattan Project.

Friday,      5/30         Bob Horner       "Partners For Palestine"
Bob will explain how and why he got involved in the Israel/Palestine crisis, which led him to create Partners for Palestine (P4P).  He’ll give us an overview of P4P and the work they are doing to address the violence.   He will also give us an overview of his recent trip to Palestine.  He will then conclude with a summary and recommended action each of us can take to seek peace and justice for both the Israelis and Palestinians.

Friday,      6/6            Bill Sayer          "Acting On Principle"
The ethics of acting upon principle, and declining to do so. Attendees will be asked to briefly tell us of a past experience  either way, and their current thoughts on the propriety of that decision.
