The Philosophy Club meets Friday afternoons at Lake Miona Recreation Center in The Villages, FL.  Meetings start promptly at 4:00PM and end at 5:30PM. Presenters usually speak for 25 to 45 minutes, followed by a Discussion Period where the Leader and Audience Members ask Questions and express their Opinions, and the Presenter replies.

A brief history of Halloween, Thanksgiving, HanukkahKwanzaa and Christmas.  We'll take a brief look at the backgrounds, customs, and symbols of the holidays.

Marie will come alive, be in period attire and tells in detail about her fascinating life, how she and husband Pierre discovered 2 new elements and won 2 Nobel Prizes. She will also emphasize her pioneering work with X-rays during WWl and how she kick-started the nuclear age.

Learning to speak is a complex process that happens in stages, involves multiple brain areas, and requires both biological readiness and social interaction.  How did languages evolve, how do we learn speech, and how do misunderstandings occur?
